While I can't stand the Rams, I've always liked Stafford. Class guy and total gamer. He really does need to consider retirement. You wanna' be able to walk after playing ball. Watching him carve us up last year, while Geno blew chance after chance to win that game...........

Wasn't surprised at all. Geno never has been in the same stratosphere as a guy like Stafford.

Stafford fractured his back in 2018 and then suffered a spinal cord contusion in 2022.

I assume this new injury is related to one of those previous ones. I would think that a back issue is not an easy one to deal with for a football player.

I hope he gets better, but it doesn't look good for a 37-year-old to have back problems.

Yeah, with his history of back issues, this is more than concerning.

Good luck to him.

I really like Stafford, too. No one can question him being a baller who loves the game. He always shows up and plays hard without complaint in spite of taking a beating year after year, in spite of having to play for the Lions for twelve of the best years of his career. I'm actually surprised the Lions won as many games as they did some of those years, and I think a lot of that was on account of Stafford. In the first year that he actually played on a quality team, he wins a Super Bowl. Still an underrated career, IMO.

I think the Rams are one of the true contenders to make it to the Super Bowl from the NFC if he plays, not as much so if he doesn't. Lord knows he doesn't need the money. He's supposedly worth over 150 million dollars.

Sometimes I don't understand the elite athlete mentality (which is probably one of many reasons that I'm not an elite athlete :p ). If I were set for life financially, and had at least one ring, I can't imagine what would keep me playing at all, especially if I had a highly increased risk (beyond just the normal NFL risk) of life impacting injury.

Part of it probably is feeling an obligation to use the gifts he has and not waste them, and part of it is proving that to himself, that plus millions of dollars that can help lots of people.

With Stafford out, I am adjusting our wins from 12 to 14, and NFC West champ.

Go Hawks.

Which would surely lead to a well deserved twenty year contract extension for Schneider.
That highly depends on the chemistry and sparkles between Schneider and the new ownership.

With our lovely Jody, there are enough sparkles to light up the entire PNW.

Matthew Stafford injury update: Rams QB dealing with aggravated disk, reportedly received epidural, good chance Stafford couldn't play this season. With Stafford out, we can handle the Rams with Jimmy G, and turn that into 2 wins.
I have lived with broken bones in my lower back since 92. I do not approve of their chosen treatment method and I do not believe it is in the best interest of Stafford. The pain is there for good reason. Trying to ignore it by covering it up only stands to make it worse.

I have a pinched nerve at L5-S1.

I tried to hold off on surgery…but, it’s time. The constant pain is manageable at times, during others it’s not.

I can’t imagine playing football with an injury such as this. An epidural may help strengthen the surrounding tissue to force the disc in naturally. I’ve had two…and they didn’t do anything.

If I’m him, I’m out.

I’ve had degenerative discs in my back for 30 years. Back issues don’t get better. They get worse. I have good days and bad days. The good days are becoming fewer and fewer.
At this point for Stanford it would have to be love of the game keeping him going.

I saw Elway not too long ago and he has probably shrunk 3” due to all the back and knee issues…couldn’t move very well at all, sad.

Ya that blows for Stafford. At least he won a ring because he was always a great QB on a shitty team (Lions)
Too bad him and Megatron weren't linked up together on a decent team
