Is all the tire-kicking we are seeing of late normal?

I mean, it seems to me that we're looking at a LOT of DT's in particular.

JS rolls over every rock! Finding gems in the rubbish bin or guys wrongly passed over has been a a big part of this fast turn around by the team in acquiring amazing depth. The team at very least knows now what he could bring to the table.

Austin was a very highly rated and highly ranked DT coming out. I wanted him to be drafted by the Hawks the year he came out. I don't know what happened to him with the NYG, but he was a 2nd rd. pick who got cut. That for sure raises some concerns at least to know why.

I'm glad the team has had him in for a look b/c he was a very talented interior pass rusher in college. He got himself hooked up with all the agent and benefits BS at UNC and was I believe suspended for taking benefits along with a few other players.

If we get him at or near league minimum then why not. I just would hate to tie up too much in him.

When the 2011 draft was still a year out, a lot of people thought Marvin Austin would be the best DT in that draft. I was a big fan of his too (though I apparently never wrote about him at SDB for some reason, I really slacked off in the 2011 draft season).

Seattle showed interest in Austin before the draft.

Not saying we should sign him, because if he's a FA after just two years after being a 2nd round pick you have to assume things just aren't working out, especially for a guy with major character concerns. But in terms of talent, it makes sense to take a look.

Unfortunately, Austin is not PS eligible. The cutoff is being activated for 6 games, he's been activated in 8 with New York.
