Marvin Austin DT Worked out for Seahawks

One of the analysts I think does a really good job is the "Football Scientist.," KC Joyner. He does some great break downs and over the years his reviews of players have been spot on. He rated Marvin Austin very high and I really wanted us to draft him. But the Giants got him and he immediately went on IR. This could be perfect for us because he might be getting desperate and the man has ability. I never really saw any indications of desire or laziness in his Senior year at UNC, so those may just be rumors, or they could be legitimate.

I'm sure you didn't see any signs of laziness during his senior year, as he didn't play at all his senior year while serving a NCAA imposed suspension.

The NCAA is stupid and I don't put any kind of stock into their dumb ass suspenssions equalling horrible and irreperable character issues.

Nice catch, but you're missing the point, the last games he played, he played very well.

FTR I just watched 11 minutes of every snap Austin played for the Giants in 2012 and I have never seen a more boring and non-descript tape in my life. At three tech against exclusively single teams, Austin didn't make a single impact play and was routinely blown back agains t the run.

Won't dig up the sources, cause I'm slack. It's possible he's changed since college. As a NC State fan, he's a favorite of ours for opening the door on the shenanigans at UNC during his tenure (tweeting party pics at agents' houses and such). Just seemed it was more about Marvin than the team.

From watching him in college, he never appeared to dominate as was expected or to match his physical gifts.

Meh, take a flyer on him. If he's all that...then he'll make the cut. It's not like PC or JS will put up with crap.

On the character scale Marvin "man boobs" Austin is pretty low but as far as I know he hasn't killed anyone. He acted as an agent runner in college and got his school and even players at a few others i trouble. He has had a lot of opportunities because of his althletic prowess but so far he has under achieved at every stop. At some point potential goes out the window and you are what you are and Marvin is a lazy self centered opportunist. He comes by it naturally though. During the investigation it was discovered that his family and his mother in particular were running some bogus charity scams. You may not care that he took money for himself but he lied at every opportunity and generally showed little concern for his team.
I hate that we are even looking at him but if Pete wants to bring him in then its on Pete.

Butch Davis brought it to a whole new level. Here's a good one. His nanny/tutor for his high school son used to work as a tutor for football players....and Greg Little in particular. Recent info reports Little as taking 20k or so from an agent while at UNC. At the same time, she was paying some of Little's bills like plane tkts, etc (+ $1000). Can you say funneling money. Now throw in the no-show classes and we're talking fun times.
