Plus Tate has become one of the best punt returners in the NFL and for the way our team plays the game, field positing is huge. If we control it, we can basically choke any team out.

Their respective ages means Tate should win this question. Turn Beast Mode into a younger man the same age as Tate, and it's a different story; but Lynch is the hardest runner in the NFL, and he's 27. Tate's 25, and receivers last quite a bit longer than RBs anyways.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Ever since Lynch has been here, he's had nagging issues that we've seen pete take care of by resting him instead of practicing him. These must come from his hard running style. I absolutely love what he brings to the table, but you have to always wonder just how long he can keep it up. I think the team has these thoughts in the back of their head as well which is why we've seen them draft RB's high in the draft these past two drafts. There will come a time when Beast Mode will not be able to physically perform the way he is now. I don't want to see that time come, but it's an inevitable conclusion. Luckily these "what-if" scenarios only really play out here. The decisions made by the team are much more analytic and take into account alot of factors, and not just an either or like we see in the op. They can make for interesting message board fodder though.
