If Marshawn weren't so talented, he would be viewed as the world's biggest prick. As it is, people just say 'Marshawns being Marshawn'. This holdout is an unfortunate distraction.

He's the Manny Ramirez of football.

And I don't think it'll be a distraction at all. We still have easily the best D in the league to fall back on and Russell Wilson is probably second to only P. manning in terms of leadership in the NFL. They'll be fine.

Lynch will be gone after this season imo anyway to make room for the Flacco contract Wilson will get. Gieves the team time to see if Lynch's replacement is on the roster...

1. This feels like Deja Vu all over again with all the speculative.

2. People thought I was bad this past week... well... here's Johnny!

3. I don't want to come off as an asshole but if any player deserves to do whatever the he wants in terms of wanting to secure his own future, its Marshawn Lynch. The guy is unique in this league, nobody can do what he does, and being the most physical back in the NFL for the last 3 seasons has probably took a tremendous toll on his body. I don't blame him won't bit.

The Offensive Line was so atrocious in 2013 that it required unique talent to be successful that many respective QB and RB counterparts would of have had a difficult time being as productive as Wilson and Lynch were. Wilson's elite scrambling ability helped negate a pass-protection that was worst in the NFL. And Lynch's physical but reckless running style allowed him to trample his way to a league average 4.2 YPC despite the fact that he was among, if not the leader(s) in broken tackles and yards after contact.

Also, remember the Seahawks play in the NFC West which is home to 4 of the most physical and toughest Defenses in the NFL.

So I don't blame Lynch especially if he's looking to make this his last year, to try and make as much possible before walking away.

Look at what the Hawks gave Alexander after the 05 season. He really tailed off after that. This is a completely different scenario as Turbin and Michael have done squat so far.

Throw the dog a bone and that is the end of it.

Teams don't honor players contracts all the time :?

Actually, they do.

The contracts are written to allow them to be terminated by the club at any point...that is what the player agrees to when they sign to play in the NFL.

If I was Marshawn and knowing what he means to the team, it would be hard not too feel maybe a bump was due. I know I would.
which is fine, tell the team what this bump is that you feel you deserve, stop playing bullshi*t games.....2 million 5 million 10 million, tell the team what you want and let the team tell you if they think he is worth it

How do you know he hasnt already?

Like I pointed out earlier Marshawn isnt on any tickets this year. You can assume its nothing. I think a player with his stature and as popular would have been on one. Maybe hes asking for something they arent willing to give.

So no one else is annoyed by this? I love the Beast but cmon man.

I am....I hate that players sign contracts and then later they are not good enough.

Teams should be able to just cut players this easy too...guaranteed or not.

Though I do hope he does get restructured....He knows his days are numbered...

This for me is why he is holding out. I'm sure he knows his time with the Seahawks is borrowed, so he's trying to get an extra couple million on his way out.

and he'll get it, it shouldnt hurt us this year, and he will help us win games.

2015-16 would be his last year no matter what, but it would surprise me if he's on the roster next year, however.

all in all, not a big deal

Semantics, they honor the GUARANTEED portion of the contract.

I'll say the same thing I said a month ago when we all thought Lynch wasn't going to show up for OTA, I get why he's holding out...........but I don't want Pete and John to set a precedent for re-negotiating contracts with two years left. Even for a player we love as much as Marshawn.

Giving Lynch more money with two years left is a dangerous dangerous precedent to start what with all our important players in the same position.

Does anyone worry about this holdout just being the time he wants to decide whether he wants to play or retire? With the rumors we heard about a month or two ago about Lynch thinking about retiring, then Lynch not wanting to get off the couch to go to the whitehouse (don't blame him there, lol), and now holding out instead of going through training camp...all seems like distancing himself from the team/nfl to me, instead of money. Although I do think he would put this all behind if he was given a huge payday. He might just be ready to call it a career, what a way to go out too.

Is Lynch tradeable?

I'd of course love him to come back and we can all be one big happy family again. But if the rumors persist that the Hawks FO isn't going to budge on giving him more money, we have to explore other options.

I could see another team desperate for a RB like Lynch to help establish their identity like he did here trading for him and giving him a new contract for draft picks.

With his high contract, advanced age, and lower value put on RBs now, we'd be fortunate to get a 5th rounder for him. Is a 5th round pick really worth increasing our chances of NOT winning another SuperBowl this year?

I think the market for Lynch is better than you think. I can think of 4-5 playoff caliber teams that would love a back like Marshawn to push them over the top (NE, Denver, NO, Carolina, SD, etc) and playoff bubble teams that Lynch could help push into the playoffs (Arizona, Atlanta, Detroit, Jets, Miami).

Again, if the rumors are true that the FO isn't going to budge, I don't see Lynch coming back. He's too proud of a player to give in, he's going to ask to be traded if this is still going on come mid August.

All people have been saying since the offseason is that Seattle will need to cut Lynch after this season to make room for other contracts. I am sure he has heard that as well and is trying to ensure he gets as much as he can.

Pretty much. He'll play or not either way the Seahawks will be fine. What? You think they are going to sit Christine Micheal again this year? Right, basically Marshawn knows the writing is on the wall and is trying to get more money with no leverage at all, good luck with that.

Okay I agree with a lot of what you say except the o-line yes they were horrible in pass blocking but in run blocking they were ranked 9th which is pretty good. As to blaming Lynch well if they pay him and then we cannot pay Rw you will be blaming him, because we would loose our franchise QB because our 28 year old RB who was already paid top 5 in the league wanted to be top 3.
