Canzone is a hard one for me. He was a .300 hitter during the regular season I think? But he just looked overmatched in the playoffs so I'm not sure what he is.

Canzone had a GREAT regular season last year, hitting .300 with an OPS of .840. I see him being effective platooning in RF and at DH with Rob Refsnyder.

Canzone was horrible in the playoffs, with 3 hits in 28 ABs. Victor Robles, his right-handed counterpart was just as bad, with 3 hits in 27 ABs. It doesn't mean what you think it means. It's a relatively small sample size. He just went cold at the wrong time and couldn't work his way out of it.

Robinson Cano went 3 for 40 in the playoffs one year, batting .075. He also had years when he was just dominant in the playoffs. So it's pretty foolish to make decisions based on one season's playoff performance.

We can agree to disagree, but if you think Canzone is a great hitter, not sure what you're watching. How you play in BIG GAMES matters, a LOT.

Canzone isn't on the same planet as Cano. And Robles is historically a LOT better than Canzone.
Foolish is running it back when you can do what contenders do, add more bats. It sure worked out well for the Jays, the Dodgers, etc.

Fair point. That's why I like Donavon. He is more like a Naylor with good bat to ball skills and we need someone other than Josh who is good at that at the top of the lineup.

It's not real easy to sign/trade for great talent. Sure you can sign a Cody Bellinger for 35 million a years who's numbers look on par with Canzone but double the at bats for 35 million a year. You could trade for a similar player to Bellinger but look what it just cost to pick up Donovan.

The Mariners are never going to be that team under this ownership. I wish we had the Dodgers payroll but we don't and they're doing really well with what they have.

Only 2 guys on the entire team hit well in the playoffs. Naylor hit .340 in the postseason, and Cal hit .304. Geno had the 3rd highest postseason BA on the team last year at .213. Everyone else was even worse than that.

Kind of amazing they made it as far as they did with only 2 guys hitting well, and the entire rest of the lineup hitting pretty damn poorly.

Granted, Canzone and Robles were especially horrendous (in the postseason), but Canzone is a young guy with basically 1 season at the major league level and he's not even a regular full time starter. Hating on him for not hitting well in the playoffs seems pretty weird to me, especially considering how well he did in a much larger sample size in the regular season.

Dominic Canzone is basically the 5th or 6th outfielder, behind Julio, Arozarena, Robles, Refsnyder and maybe even Raley. Let's be real--you're not going to get a better player as your backup outfielder.

Agreed, but he's also a top contender for DH. There you can do much better.
