After watching Bazardo, a closer is our biggest need! Sewald would be nice.

On a related note, I'm loving Canzone and Rojas.

I don't see an available bat that would be a big upgrade over what we have. Not only is Locklear batting well, he has made some fantastic defensive plays, as has Luke.

The only reason Bazardo was in the game in the 9th inning the other night was because we had a 6 run lead. He isn't, nor has he ever been, our closer. They were just trying to finish off the game without having to use one of better, more important relievers.

Munoz is our closer, and has been very good in that role this season overall. We definitely need another high leverage reliever, but not necessarily a closer.

Santos is supposed to be that other leverage reliever. Unfortunately, he hasn't hit the field yet. They're hoping early July last I heard. Even with him, I'm not sure our bullpen is not the least effective in a few years. Woo is basically on a rookie/recovery pitch count, so the BP could use a long relief guy as well. I certainly wouldn't mind bringing Sewald back for a playoff run. :)

As long as Munoz back doesn't act up. I'm not going to put my faith in Stanek to fill in for Munoz, and we are going to need more dependable guys for the playoffs. We've had too many injuries, and we can't depend on our rotation to pitch for as many innings as they have. And Bazardo...I'd like to see him gone.

You might be content with what we have, I'm not. We will need help in the pen more than we need any of the available bats and what they will cost.

I'd love to see Sewald back. Especially with Munoz trying to play through a lingering back issue. Hopefully Santos will be back and healthy sooner than later as well. He could be huge boost for the pen.

I'm not sure what part of "We definitely need another high leverage reliever, but not necessarily a closer" makes you think I'm content with what we have.

I obviously agree that we need another high leverage arm for the pen, but any true closer that's a clear upgrade over Munoz would be very costly. Despite the bullpen not being up to the standard that we have come to expect here, they are still very clearly not the biggest weakness on this team. Our offense is still bottom 10, and in some cases bottom 5, in most team hitting stats.

I doubt many are content with what we have. They are real close, they flat out need another bat or two, AND a good reliever.

One thing we can agree on chapow, Munoz is the Schit!
But he needs some help.

He definitely needs some help out there. I've been voicing my concerns about the pen (outside of Munoz) in this forum for a few weeks now. I still think the offense is a bigger concern, but they do seem to be picking it up a bit lately, while the pen appears to be getting worse.

Yep, it was the same story today, with Muñoz getting a 5-out save.

A lot in the media seem to think there won't be a lot of bats available this year. At least none with worts. No Juan Soto types. Passan couldn't even give more than 2 names likely available and thinks someone like robert is likely to go to the Phillies or dodgers. Player with warts would be someone like ward from the Angels.

If that's the case do you just double down on the bullpen or do you still give up some prospects for a hitter even if it's an overpay

Bullpen is starting to blow games. Offense had all of 5 hits. They need BOTH.
But, I know how this story ends. Same sh** every year. They'll wait until the last minute. Then they'll trade two top prospects for a .211 hitting, often injured player who USED TO be good.

Damn, from 10 games to 4.5, in basically a week. BRUUUUTAL

I love this team, but I'm starting to lose interest. I don't want to, but I am.

Yep, funny how things change quickly. I was feeling confident that this team should be able to cruise through the summer without too much trouble. BOY, I was wrong.

We all were.

If they want to get back to their winning ways, they need to get back to their late May/early June form, whatever that was.

No doubt. 2 weeks ago, it looked like they were gonna' run away with it.
Now, it's very clear that Houston is a better team.
