Naylor will definitely help, but we still need another bat. I like Williamson and Young but I don't think they compliment each other. Neither have power and don't offer a lot on offense.

They both have power to develop yet, they are young rookies
who are still learning their way.
I think Young will gain power as the body fills in, he has the bat speed.

The Achilles heel of this offense is hitting with RISP. They come up empty way too often. They have the 3rd most K's and 6th worst BA with RISP as a team.

They're just a little too reliant on the long ball to score runs, imo. The last 2 games are good examples of this. They've hit 5 HR's so far this series, but have only scored 6 runs total, all of them via those 5 HR's.

HR or bust is a tough way to try to get it done. Especially when they are often solo shots, and especially when you only have 3 guys that are very likely to reach or eclipse 20 HR's in a season.

*and I'll just point out here, JP with RISP .316 average .889 OPS. Julio with RISP .208 average .607 OPS. Just saying... *

Team is absolute trash with RISP if Cal didn't have 80 something RBI's the team is 15 games under .500.
M's are batting .234 as a team with RISP the last team in all of baseball is batting .228 with RISP. That tells you everything.

Hope JP bounces back tonight. Move Naylor lead off if JP can't get it going. Get higher OPS at the top of the line up. You could put Naylor anywhere in the top half of the line up. Move Canzone up too.

Most M's fans would disagree with moving Julio and JP down but it makes sense because you get higher OPS at the top of the line up while still going lefty then righty. JP's stats are solid at the 9 spot too. I still don't know if he's a true lead off guy he needs a higher OPS.

Not having Robles has killed them. Only needed him at about 70% of last year.
