Just saw some statistics that puts my frustration over the Mariners' batting ineptitude into perspective. The Mariners are third in HRs, 6th in runs scored, 6th in on-base pct, and 7th in OPS. Also 3rd in walks and 8th in batting average.

And yet, why is it that when I watch the games that I think this is the worst hitting team of all time? I guess it's the nature of baseball and being a fan. Every team is the Mudville Nine.

I guess you would have to say that Dan Wilson has turned the ship around from the Scott Servais years. Last year we were 2nd to last in batting average, 1st in strikeouts.

I think it's partly the nature of baseball, where batters fail more than they succeed. And the pitching these days is insane, pitcher after pitcher throwing 98 mph.

But I bet you're right, that most fans probably think they have the worst hitters. I saw that Yankee fans were booing Aaron Judge after striking out. Are you kidding me? That guy hits 60 HRs for you every year.
