For the most part, the refs kept the flags in their pockets. There were just 8 penalties called on both teams, 5 on us and 3 on the Colts, in the entire game. To put that in perspective, last Thursday, the Falcons alone had 19 penalties called on them, and they still won.
There were two calls that I thought were particularly egregious, the PI on Jobe and a no-call on a pass to Shaheed. The swinging at JSN in an attempt to create a fumble...maybe. But I don't think there was a ref in position to see it. The action looked worse than it was because it appeared that he was delivering body blows, which is what generated the boos from the crowd.
We definitely weren't getting the calls, and our luck was that of a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. But I'm not complaining or using them to rationalize our lackluster performance. There were too many other things within our control that we didn't do that would have made that game a lot easier.
As far as the announcers go, I could care less. I tend to screen them out, take in the pertinent information like down and distance, names, etc. I almost completely ignore what the color commentator says. I'm usually too busy multi-tasking by watching another game and/or the Red Zone.
