I can't lie; I almost laughed when I saw that number. I like him, but he's just above average. And like someone else mentioned, he vanishes, often.

Did not expect Mafe would get paid like that. Did the Seahawks win the Super Bowl because of Mafe? Imagine how much he would have gotten if he sacked someone in the playoffs.

Once again, an overpay for a SB winner. Glad our FO isn't that stupid.

2025 states for Mafe: 31 tackles, four tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and five pass deflections.

Is that worth 20M a year?

The salary cap has gone up by $120 million over the past 5 years, from $180 million in 2021 to $300 million this year. Edge rushers are considered a premium position and are among the highest paid non QB's. $20 mil a year for a solid starting Edge isn't really all that crazy anymore.

The cap has gone up a ton, but it's still up to the smart GMs to figure out what the real value is. Paying someone $XY million just because some other team did is not a super bowl winner is built (or maintained).

How often are teams happy 2-3 years after making these huge signings? Not very often. Some teams are getting game changers while most others are adding an albatross.

That's the thing though (and kind of my point), this isn't really a huge signing in this day and age. 5 years ago it was, but not anymore. Top edge rushers are getting over $40 million per year. This is half of that. We are entering the age where this is just what it costs to sign young, solid starting FA edge rushers.

No pass rusher is replaceable and Mafe is considerably better than he's given credit for in here. Lack of production in year 4 because of our platoon approach to pass rusher.

Then again, that very platoon approach is the reason he wasn't gonna get 20 here..

I'm sure Ibuprofin meant racking them up for next year. Unless we go crazy here, they'll get good comp picks for all 3 of those guys we lost. 2027 could end up being a hell of a draft.
Dude, I had to go back and look at that poster's name. Hahaha. And yeah, we could really be set up well for next year's draft.
