Mike Macdonald won’t play starters Thursday night against the Raiders. He implied that starters will get some work against the Chiefs next week. Then they’ll have the joint practice in Green Bay (then starters likely won’t play in the preseason finale),” Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reported on X (formerly Twitter).
The Seahawks have reason to be cautious in the preseason. In a previous exhibition matchup against the Raiders, backup QB Geno Smith suffered a concussion on his first dropback. It’s a memory the team hasn't forgotten, and a clear reason behind the strategy to avoid risking key players unnecessarily.
Now i get why Mike is being cautious.

If this is the reason, it seems kinda dumb-dumb. Like, our QB only gets hurt in i) preseason games and ii) vs Raiders. You can try to keep players "fresh" but at the risk of the team being a losing, disorganized mess.

I guess we'll see though after the first 3 or 4 regular season games.

This has become a thing in more recent years. Mostly after it dropped to 3 games. Likely having less games gives them less time to evaluate young talent. I liked the old system where they played a drive in the first game and increased through game 3 then rested the final game.

I am thinking of last year when we lost Nwosu to that cheap shot by the Browns lineman. I guess the guys may be rusty out of the game but probably a good trade off vs not being available at all for a few weeks.

Was it browns or chargers? I thought it was the chargers?

And the insult to injury ( yeah pun) is that he was chop blocked by a worthless scrub jag who is going to be in an Applebee's saying " yeah I was in the NFL" hoping he can get some ass or at least a free margarita.
