I was commenting to my friend how my high school football field was better than that dirt track, even with a duck pond at one end... lol

On Mike and Mike, they were talking about how teams used to file lawsuits at some stadium because it was just like this, and team upon team would leave with loads of banged up players.

I used to play in rock quarries as a child that looked nicer than this garbage.

EMBARRASSING on a whole new level. You think they could afford some turf with all those "sellouts" they have every season.

Does anyone remember if Orakpo or their other player on IR got injured during games at FedEx field?

I believe he was injured after causing a old fashioned post-match chess brawl. Something he said about buying cheap insurance...

What a joke. Player safety, ehh Goodell??

I know, I hope there is a change next year.

Or some advances in turf management. Where did they get these guys.

When RGIII was asked about the playing surface during his post-game presser, he replied 'that's part of our home-field advantage.' WHAT?!! Now, RGIII is an very intelligent creature, so I imagine that's the bull crap Shannyrat is feeding to his players. Wonder how The Rat feels about it now that their home sh*t hole took out his best player??? Myopic little varmit.

The Vet in Philly was known for having the worst playing surface quite possibly on earth. Ricky Watters left and signed with the Seahawks, because I think he knew he was going to end up having his career cut short on that field. Many players did have careers cut short. The field was solid cement first of all, and then they simply glued what was essentially green industrial carpet over the top. They also had "pullouts" for the bases and the pitcher's mound and home plate for the Phillies, and they didn't switch the field. They just put those "plugs" back into place during football and would pull them out for baseball. They had about a 6-8 inch wide strip of turf that stuck up around the edge of the base cutout and then a solid piece of turf that covered the dirt and they looked to be stuck in place like a Lego or something. It was the worst field I've ever seen. I was embarrassed for them. The really sad thing was their superstar players were begging them to fix the field, and they said they couldn't, because of the design of the stadium. I don't know if the cement slab it was all on was such that it was somehow integral to the construction of the stadium so they couldn't chip it up and put in a grass field, or if they were too cheap or what.

it seems like at the very least they could have ripped up their turf, leveled the cement underneath in spots where it was really off, add some form of rubber padding, and then put in a newer and better quality turf. This looked like the original astroturf they put in the Astrodome in the late 60's. No kidding. It was even all faded to a lighter green from sun damage.

It is actually a good point. There is no possible way to find a practice field that is that horrible, so opponents can not be prepared for the traction, while the Skins play on the field 8 times a year. That is a huge advantage and I would say the only reason we couldn't stop them in the first quarter. It took our guys a short time period to adjust to the playing conditions. As soon as they did, we dominated them.

I doubt the taxpayers are going to want to replace the fields with field turf. There is a cost with replacing field turf on a maintenance cycle. Unless the league mandates a standard, nothing is going to happen.

FedEx Field is owned solely by Dan Snyder. It was built without any taxpayer money. Getting a new playing surface put in would not involve government in any way. The blame for not having a real playing surface lies completely with Dan Snyder.

It's too bad that the NFL has no say in the team's field, the team has the final say on it. Which is ridiculous. All this talk about player safety and the NFL doesn't have the authority to force a team to get field turf installed

That's sad, especially in light of the fact that they view it as part of their home field advantage. Some advantage when it takes out your brand new star quarterback. Snyder should be taken into that little plywood port-a-shack on the side lines and beat like a rented mule. That field is horrible. Dog runs at the local kennel are in better shape.

ESPN is picking up on the turf problems now. Unfortunately it took RGIII's injury to do it, but they did show a graphic about ADP, Clemons, and RGIII this morning.

Man, I didn't realize it was this bad until I saw that video. Snyder should be disciplined for allowing this unprofessional surface.
