LX Championship & East Coast Bias

I think a lot of it was the low expectations so many people had for our team going into the season. And the parity in the NFL with the cap.

As the season went on last year it was pretty clear that it was open. A lot of teams in the NFC could get hot, avoid injuries and have a shot to win it. I always thought the AFC looked clearly weaker and they had a lot of parity too.

The Hawks put it all together and with that D and the offense playing well and smart they got it done.

This is why I think a Dynasty is possible for us now. With all the parity and really, a lot of the top teams have a lot of holes, if we continue to improve under Mac’s coaching and keep the team healthy why not a Dynasty here in Seattle? Especially with Schneider making good use of the cap.

The AFC was dead in the water by mid-season. There wasn't a single team that looked like a championship caliber unit, and that played out the rest of the year. It was around then that Seattle started putting their foot on opponents necks and the media was still dismissive AF.

I had Seattle pegged to make the Superbowl midway through the year, when the narrative was Sam Darnold this/that, completely glossing over the fact Seattle had the best defense in the league at the time.

Hopefully the league runs it back and lets Seattle dominate AGAIN. Kind of sounding like they will.

I'll have to disagree with you from what I've heard from here in Florida. Most of my buddies an local talk shows have only had an appreciation of what the Hawks have accomplished in a short turn around and see them as a juggernaut in the future.

I live in the same area of as Floridahawk79 and while knowledgeable football fans can be honest... sometimes feels like back-handed compliments.

I've managed to run into more than I care to within the delusional crowd. There's a difference between busting my chops in good fun and Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. Idk if it's easy coast bias because I think this attitude can surface anywhere.

For as much credit that's given... there seems to be plenty of uninformed doubters. The narrative does get tiresome... That the Seahawks didn't exactly succeed. All other teams just failed.

Defense wins championships and short of a new owner that totally screws us over, the Seahawks are poised to be relevant for years to come.

Rather than an East Coast Bias I think it is a big market bias. I don't think the media are downplaying the Rams recent success.

The Pats might have been lucky to reach the SB, if Bo Nix hadn't got injured the Broncos would probably have been there but I have every confidence we would have beaten them as well. The Best two teams in the NFL by a significant margin last year was us and Rams, the NFCCG was also the super bowl in that sense.

Ever since the SB I've had several convos with friends who live in the midwest and on the east coast. From guys who are Seahawk fans like us to a Pats fan as well as a few others in between. What has stood out to me and my Hawk fan buddies is how consistently everyone is writing off our championship as a one-off and blaming it more on the Pats being historically weak instead of the Seahawks being dominant. Even the Pats fan is in a little bit of denial, which is hard to believe considering the ass kicking he was forced to witness. Now, I'm not really irked, or surprised, by any of this. I've maintained that "east coast bias" is alive and well, although in a little bit different form today than in say the 80's or 90's.
I guess my point is that the Seahawks have historically been the most successful when they're underdogs and/or being over looked. All of that is happening again and I honestly couldn't be happier. If we want to ****** next year (I won't say the word outloud or put it in print) then this is the best way to get that campaign started.

To the 2026 season and, well, you know..

My cousin is a pats fan from Rhode Island and I think he also has the misconception of the hawks being a fluke. I believe it is a product of being ignored out here. The LOB had an intro act, and a rivalry to make it amazing and Richard and his mouth. The LOB broke out in 2012 and then by the time we won in 13 the world was aware of us, this team is close to as deadly and still unknown and we weren’t sposed to win yet, the problem the rest of the world now has is we are not a fluke, we’re just early…

We had some close games against the rams, that, and obviously the 2 point zackwards pass gives the smedia an easy excuse that the hawks got lucky but we know the truth. To a casual fan it might not be as clear, but we broke the rams. A crack, but they’re broken

I mean no disrespect to the OP, because I understand their frustration, but honestly, who cares? Why should it matter what other people think or perceive about this team?

They will forever be known as Superbowl 60 champions, and nothing can take that away. It doesn’t matter what John Smith living in Virginia thinks of the 2025 Seahawks. What matters is what YOU think of the team, and what history says. That’s it.

We do not care. But it does matter. And I can’t wait to not care next year too

I don't care what that score showed. That was an absolutely a** woopin. It doesn't come CLOSE to telling the true story. Those who actually understand football know that the Hawks absolutely dominated that game.
A garbage time TD doesn't change what we saw. They did absolutely NOTHING thru 3 quarters.

It was close to being the first shutout. And the big thing is the patriots had no better chance than any other team in the nfl. It wasn’t even close, Seattle was on another level. The rams were the rubix cube and it’s solved. The rest of the nfl was looking to the rams for a blueprint and they didn’t get it

Patriots might as well been the browns or cardinals it wouldn’t have been any different

Matt Stafford is almost the only qb in the NFL with enough practice against us and talent to be a real threat. I really think the new rubix cube is Mike McDefense and Little John

'East Coast bias' is a term relative almost to 'America's Team' I find them both to be laughable. It's ridiculous to believe. Seattle will always hate the East Coast for whatever reason they feel. And the East Coast starts at Idaho!

The Hawks were not on anybodies radar for a SB appearance last year. And for good reason. They got a new QB, second year for coach Mike, young D, and two other pretty good teams in the division. It wasn't til the last 3 weeks that most people saw that they actually were one of the 3 best teams. And the NFCCG became the deciding factor because the AFC teams fell over their own feet all year. The Hawks and Pats really didn't have any big name players so the appeal just wasn't there. So the whole thing was bland from a general stand point. I understand that, no matter how much I'd like to see everybody bow down to them. The people I know on the East Coast look at them with the expectation that they will be a top team for quite a while with Mike Mac. I have yet to hear them scoff at them.

b/c it’s the offseason, we’re in a good spot, draft over, camps done, FA crawl, and it’s the offseason.
