To be worthy of hate, you have to be feared or respected.

I don't hate the Dolphins, Bills, Jets or Jaguars for that reason.

ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY!!!

Our defense plays great football all the time, but when they feel they need to prove something, they are even more potent. My biggest concern was that we'd go into the Super Bowl and too many people would be saying that our defense would be too much for whatever team we play....having it be the Manning led Broncos means that there will be so many out there saying that our defense won't be able to stop him and THAT is exactly what we want. I expect to see one of the best defensive performances of the season on February 2

It's delicious.

It's gone from mild annoyance to real hatred.

And I love it.

Heck yes, makes it so much better. Hate is a sign of fear from others. They know the Hawks are here to stay, and they can't deal with it. So be it.

Loving it. Not gonna lie. We've been an overlooked franchise since our inception. This coach and these guys don't play that. Different team, different mentality. I'm hearing everywhere now that the casual sports fan is rooting against Seattle for the SB because of their hatred of Richard Sherman. Like anybody outside of this team and its fan base really gives a crap... Haters gon' hate!

The hate is delicious as pretty soon the fans will be forced to choose between losing or stop hating simply because;

If you can't beat 'em... join 'em.

Hate has to be earned, you have to be good

Yankees and Cowboys are long time hated by a lot of old timers.

Howie Long used to laugh about the Hawks when we were in AFC West

Times have change, love the hate; Seahawks have earned it

Maybe Richard Sherman is smarter than we think? Sure he was passionate in the Erin Andrews interview, but he followed it up and added an exclamation point in the post game interview!

Sir Sherman has directed all of the attention to himself, thus taking it OFF of his team mates.

Smart...very smart... :moon.:

I'd like to start out by stating that I think we will beat Denver in a couple weeks, but we are not being hated because we're good. We're being hated because we're perceived as classless fans and players. We aren't the Cowboys or Yankess; we haven't won anything YET. Most people would love to cheer for the underdog like us, but all that's talked about is poor sportsmanship and I'm a little embarrased to be hated for that.

We are still underdogs in the Super Bowl and are one loss away from being the Same Old Seahawks, (who would always lose to their old division rival, the Broncos). Let's do something good for us first to make others hate our accomplishments.

Taking attention off your teammates is a good thing when there's a negative story.......but it's not a good thing when your team just won the NFC Championship.

Sherman is smart, very smart. But make no mistake, his interview with Andrews was not calculated. That was 100% raw emotion and passion...........and is what you get when you're a kid from Compton who's fought and scratched his way to the best DB in the NFL.

If I thought for a second that we would be getting any coverage right now and that Sherman was drawing attention that the team as a whole would be receiving, I might be a little tiny bit regretful.

However there was no way we were receiving any coverage, and there was no way we were going to be rooted for. Because poor Manning only has one ring he is now the lovable underdog (like Elway when he went for it at the end of his career) and that was always going to be the story. We had no title in 2006, did anyone root for us then? Nope, all about Bettis getting his ring. And because we had no Sherman type personality to draw attention to us, we got to watch the national media suck off the Steelers for 2 straight weeks. What fun that was.

I'll take the attention. Somewhere in there as talk show hosts respond to the antics, they actually are forced to keep focus a little on just how good Sherman and our defense are. Even if it's just straight hate, at least our team is being talked about.

This is true. You can chart out where the hate comes from with respect to outside fanbases (rightly or wrongly). It involves Pete's reputation at USC, the PED stories, celebrating Golden Tate's touchdown, Sherman, and a unique game-influencing home field advantage due to crowd noise. These are the things consistently referenced on other message boards. Aside from that, we actually play the kind of ball other fanbases typically crave...defense and running.

It isn't all about Sherman. There are many that just do not want to admit that this team is relevant and the best in the league.
