I am choosing to believe that pcjs used their collective intelligence, and have a contingency plan in place. I may be wishful thinking, who knows.

We blew it.

And how do you know this??????

Sounds like we were a pawn being used for him getting to stay in the part of the US that he wanted to stay in, I mean really, if everything else was the same, who in the world would choose to live/play in the Detroit area vs. Seattle?

Plus Michigan has a State Income Tax, (4.25%), so he's even playing for less $$ to sign with Detroit if everything else was the same.

Don't know were the guy or his wife was from, but I would bet strongly that the northern/central US is most likely what they call home at the end of the day.

Just my .02.

GO HAWKS!!!

I know this because we did not sign him which was the objective.

Welp, cheers to more of the same from last year. Picked up a former second round pick who has been injured and never lived up to expectation and now we are going to draft a rookie starting corner. JS and PC need to study how the pats playbthe draft and FA and get rid of players who are going to want an insane amount of money or are a significant cap hit. Seems like we can't get anything right with this o line. The team is getting older and progressively worse since we won the Super Bowl.

overreact much? we didnt sign a 30 year old guard ccoming off injury so the world is ending

Ummm, have you seen the past 2 seasons? Our players are getting older, suffering more injuries, o line is getting worse and hate to break the news to you but the reality is our Super Bowl window is closing. We really needed to make some aggressive moves on o line this offseason and we failed to do that. Sorry to hit you with the reality of things. We just paid Joeckel $7 mill

Prove that our superbowl window is closing...

Most of that 7mil is going to Gus. He obviously has some dirt on Pete and Pete is paying hausch money to keep it quiet.

We are doomed to another 10 win season and the playoffs. Doomed I tell you!

Signing him for a dollar amount that makes sense was the objective. Getting desperate and overpaying for him is not the objective

They had him here for two days. They weren't able to close the deal. He signed with someone else. We blew it.

Langs loss. Lions arent gonna make any noise anyway. Guess he wanted to go home. My question is wtf are the seahawks gonna do now? All they got was joekel they might need to make a trade now. They cant go into the season with basically the same line.

Pass blocking for Aarons Rodgers who holds the ball for two seconds shouldn't get you 14 million a year. Sour grapes I know.

You can't hold a fricking gun to a guys head and make them sign. These are human beings we are talking about where a ton of factors are at play. The guy is from Michigan, obvious he just wanted to go home if money was close or equal. It doesn't matter how good your pitch is sometimes, you can't force guys to sign with you.

What a clown. Detroit?

I agree with the previous posts. Signing unproven talent is the same situation that got us into this mess last year.

Disappointing, our line blows.

A lot of posters are acting like there was no risk regarding signing Lang. That seems somewhat irrational. FA signings are always assessed on a risk/reward basis. I'm sure this one was too.

Entering his 30yo season. Coming off foot and hip surgeries. Those are risks.
Sure, on paper he's an immediate up-grade, but if you're PC/JS you have to look at the big picture. At what point does the risk outweigh the reward? Detroit's point was higher than ours; it's really that simple.

Bad teams with more cap can throw money around. It usually does not work out well in the big picture.

That is all.

This is true. However, you can understand the situation as a GM and have a concurrent plan going to bring in other quality O-Line players and offer them contracts with the first signed getting the deal. The others you cancel out. Put the pressure on them to make a decision now. At least that is what I would have done.

We need to stop letting FA's dictate the terms of their interest to us. Make them adjust to our terms.

For whatever reason, our FO couldn't make the sale so to speak. That's part of their job. He signed elsewhere.

Maybe we could swing a trade for Joe Dahl. He deserves to be a starter in my opinion and he's gonna be in a three way battle with Laken Tomlinson and Graham Glasgow for the remaining guard position in Detroit.

Our line will be one year older and wiser. Fant has been working out and studying at the facility like a madman. Still other FAs that could augment like Byron Bell. The draft can produce a stud or two. Robert Myers might be a hidden gem.

The sky is still in its rightful place.

Oh, well. At least I can spend the rest of the day building my cheat sheet for my March Madness draft.

Bad teams except New England that has cap room and know how to reload and seem to have ability to every year .
