Does this mean that the team decided to do it? My understanding is that the NFL can only force a team to be on if they haven’t been on before and they miss the playoffs two seasons in a row.
If they weren’t forced, then I am surprised they agreed.
Under updated NFL rules, a team can be forced to appear on Hard Knocks unless they meet at least one of these exemptions: they have a first-year head coach, have appeared in the previous eight seasons, or are scheduled for the in-season edition. The league removed exemptions for making the playoffs, significantly increasing the eligible pool"

FYI this was changed back in 2024

I have complete faith that Mike and his staff will find a way to turn this into a learning/motivational tool. John will find a way to turn it into a selling point to other players as to why you want to be part of this culture and team.

I'm hoping for plenty of drama, starting with a World Cup overrun, a delay to getting a new playing surface, and half the squad wanting to keep the grass soccer pitch.

Maybe Vince McMahon would like like to buy the Seahawks. :sneaky:

Extra popcorn please!

Hard knocks is a big nothing burger. I’ve never watched it. Macdonald will nip any outside noise in the bud, including hard knocks.

I'd watch only because I'd like to see how they present SuperBowl QB Sam Darnold (I love saying that)

A few years ago I recall Goodell saying every team will ultimately have to participate, so yeah this is league mandated. I know Pete had refused initial overtures bc of a few experiences at USC. In 2003, Auburn allowed cameras into practices and also showed their spring game on ESPN. USC opened with Auburn and clobbered them 23-0, and Pete quietly acknowledged having that intel gave them a big edge.

I don't know that that's been the case w NFL teams on Hard Knocks, but players and coaches have, in recent years, been very aware of the face they show to the cameras. I know that during the Jets year on HK, Antonio Cromartie was filmed trying to remember all of his kids' ages, and there were a whole bunch of them clustered together, and it was very apparent they were with different women. Between that and Rex yelling "let's go eat a f***ing snack" I think teams have warned their teams about not attracting the wrong kind of attention. So yeah, that's likely why the Bills were incredibly boring last year.

Imagine if the 2012-15 or so team had been on. The stories you hear about the defensive backs taunting Russ and being told to cool it. Baldwin and his intensity. Marshawn doing whatever he wanted. That would have been interesting.

Oh yeah, the LOB had some real characters. Can only imagine Richard Sherman near a hot mike.
