Passing downs are, by the numbers, 3x more valuable than run downs.

Also winning teams, WITH a balanced offense, generally pass more than run for most of the game.

But the reality is you win football games by winning matchups. We passed more against the Giants because our receivers should have won more against their secondary vs our OL vs that DL.

Now ask yourself, what's more likely to get consistent win matchups?
1. Walker + our OL vs SF DL +LBs?
Or
2. Our receivers vs SF secondary?
(The SF DL and LBs are their strengths. Our receivers are our strengths. When you answer that question you know why we pass so much.)

Can't just abandon it, though. Need to do it, if only to keep some of the pass rush pressure off.

There's no world in which Geno should have 56, 40, and 52 attempts in the last 3 games respectively. That's not sustainable. They need to keep pounding it until they get something going.

They did do better this week at being deliberate about rushing. Gotta keep doing it. Most charts have this line as better at run blocking than pass blocking.

You’re not wrong but watching the game it just felt like they didn’t have much of a choice. You were down massively and needed to start scoring fast. They probably have been better on the year with run blocking but last night they seemed way over matched.

After a night to sit on it I think they’re going to be competitive the rest of the year and surprise us a little.

True. Our run scheme was extremely vanilla though.

Contrast with SF run scheme even with back ups. They constantly mix it up.

I’ll say this. I have been wanting a coach to run no huddle more aggressively and do whatever it takes to score points because that is the job of the offense, to score. I feel like we have now have someone that actually understands that. Give him some time!!!!

If this team ever got the lead you would see them run more, its hard when always behind since it eats up so much clock.

Like the Bears, the Seahawks need to focus free agency and the draft on the offensive line. Everything else is in pretty good shape, comparatively speaking.
