I chose Maybe. With DK, Tyler still being here, and both being productive I'm not sure he breaks out this year. Although I do believe he will be better than last year. Plus with the new offensive system i think the offense will start slow this year.

1100 is a strong "maybe."

1100 yards would've placed him 19th in the league last year. DK was 18th at 1114. Guys like Garrett Wilson, Calvin Ridley, and Terry Maclaurin weren't able to eclipse that mark in 2023.

While I believe in JSN and think he's an ascendant player, that's a tall ask for most guys. If he misses a few games, it's probably out of the question entirely. Even at full strength... yeah, just sort of a tall ask to be expected, but a totally reasonable stretch goal.

If he doesn’t hit it, I don’t think it will be due to a lack of capability.

As mentioned, Lockett and DK are very, very good receivers. Noah Fant is capable of putting up much better numbers given the opportunity. Our RBs are pretty damn good as well.

There’s only so much football to go around.

I’ve seen a lot of player and coach interviews as of late that directly address JSN and expectations. I could be wrong but, it sounds like the Hawks are going to increase his workload.

I forgot who said it but someone who played with JSN, Wilson, Harrison Jr, Olave etc when asked who was the best player of the bunch said JSN no question. That is high praise as all of those guys look to be incredible pros.

IMO, 1100 yards is too lofty of a prediction for JSN.

Last year he gained 628 yards on 63 receptions for an average of 10.0 yards/reception.

To get to 1100 yards, he would need 47 more receptions at the same average, which would put him at 110 for the year, which sounds totally out of reach considering he's on a team with DK, Tyler and Noah Fant. His targets would have to increase dramatically for that to happen.

I could see him getting to somewhere close to 850 yards, which would take another 22 receptions more than he had last year... that's definitely achievable.

One might argue that he'll improve his yards per reception... and he may... but that remains to be seen. It all depends on how Grubb plans to use him.

My prediction... he ends up with somewhere between 850 and 900 yards.

If our defense is better we might get 10 drives per game instead of 8, which could put all our big 3 in the 120 targets per range too.

I presume in his 2d season here he will be given more opportunities for this, and thus we can expect his YPC numbers should dramatically improve as well as his total yards. He's got great speed and good hands and has shown he's willing to fight for the ball from what little he's shown so far. He looks to be pretty good in traffic for a guy with moderate size.

Pardon my ignorance…doubt this is able to be validated but, I read that based on a metric of ‘how open’ receivers in the NFL are/were, JSN was high on the list.

I went to the game vs Cincy last year. While every QB is going to miss a guy here and there, I recall JSN being very open…on the majority of his routes. At one point, he literally stopped and just threw his hands up like “excuse me…look here”.

Mind you, I didn’t have the best angle. But, the difference in seeing him in person vs the way the cameras track plays for televised games was a bit surreal. He often had a 5 yard or more gap between him and the nearest defender.

Certain players stand out when watching live games. He was one of them (regardless of stats that game).
