What we know for certain is that Pete had final say in personnel matters. It was one of the conditions for hiring him in the first place. John now has full contractual authority over personnel matters, as of January. We can all have our opinions of how much say John had prior to that, but January is the point I believe we can legitimately judge him on his record, and know for certain that it is in fact his record.
I think HC and staff will always have a say in personnel decisions. Could be wrong about this but I believe the arrangement between Pete and JS was that Pete did the choosing and JS was saddled with making sure it happened.

2 trades in 2 days a week before roster cuts (and Nick Harris last week)... JS has been killing it all off season.

Best QB room in a decade+, Byron Murphy at 16, Connor Williams cheap, cut loose multiple albatross contracts/players, extensions for multiple core contributers, turning positions of depth into future value... all simultaneously. He's done some of some of this in the past, but it sure seems like he's doing it all this season.... or is it just me?

Is there another trade opportunity? DWilliams or DEskridge might get something in return assuming they keep Shenault. Maybe a TE if they keep NFant, PBrown and Barner...is Westover or Russel worth a 7th? Those Auburn Corners could be worth a late rounder and we might not have room for both.... Any other possibilities anyone else see?

No , it's not just you brother.
JS is finally getting to run HIS team the way he wants to without a coach standing over his shoulder with the ultimate power of making final decisions . I've always thought that was an arrangement that would ultimately fail. I say this knowing PC had great success for an extended period of time but absolute power destroys Lucy or something like that.

He's wearing the big boy GM pants now
