Some baseball Schadenfreude to make us feel better about how the Mariners season has started. Jorge Polanco is on the injured list again, with a wrist contusion (and Achilles bursitis). He's hitting .179 with 1 HR.

The Mets, with MLB's highest payroll of $357 million, are 8-16 and recently lost 11 in a row. This is after signing Bo Bichette and Polanco to add to their already large payroll.

Baseball is the weirdest sport. It’s the only sport where a player can go from great to crap.

Could you imagine if Stafford just forgot how to throw a football all of a sudden in his prime? Or if Klay Thompson couldn’t shoot the ball?

I think the Mets will eventually get going, but it shows you can’t buy your way to wins.

Illustrates what a shame it is when a deserving team barely misses making the WS due, in large part, to certain exasperating nuances of the sport.
