The issue is this:
Ernest's value in the eyes of the league has NOT been anything close to the value he has to us. With this in mind, Ernest's team is likely looking to lock in significantly more money from Seattle than he'd actually get on the open market.
My expectation is that we're letting him test the market and matching any offer he gets. If none of the offers are competitive or moving the needle for Ernest at all, then we'll come to something where both sides are happy long-term.
His team was probably looking for Pat Queen money from us in extension talks. He ain't getting it on the open market. If he does get that type of offer, then we're probably matching and he'd return.
