If they truly didn’t want him back then why tender him at all? People say do he could compete for playing time but he competes his butt off every year. They know what they get with him. They could have just let him walk.

I can see why they may not want to commit two years to him so that could be an issue but the money itself isn’t what will cost us him being here.

Well one of the issues, and they have joked about it, but there is a hint of truth in it... When Bobo's in.. opposing teams know pretty well it's a run play.

I don’t disagree (though Milroe had 3 actual snaps this year all runs and he gets trashed constantly)
It’s not each individual player it is the total and the replacements. I have a ton of trust in MM but have concerns with this off season.

Probably a vary valid point, Bobo, knows his future int he NFL won't be a long, and I'm sure he'd like to get a little nest egg before his finale day.

We have seen enough of him to know whether we want him back or not. If he came back on the tendered offer I doubt he would have not gotten his money. We don’t really have the draft capital to do a lot this year. Paying him for a year was probably a no brainer. I don’t know that they planned to keep him past 2026 so that second year cap hit is where I think the questions are.

Bobo is ‘solid’…thus the interest. But, no way I’d want to match h the Jags.

I don’t think JS gets caught off guard that much. But, I do think he thought we’d get K9 back for a few less than what KC paid. I’m willing to bet he never thought someone would come after Bobo.

In the grand scheme of things, we’ve got to let that dude walk and get paid (somewhere else).

I like JB. Always have. He is a nose to the grindstone kind of guy. A hardhat kid. But heres the thing. If losing guys like Jake Bobo allows us to make it easier to keep guys like Shaheed.........theres no question about what to do. There is not unlimited amount of money, we all know this, and there's a future to plan for. Sometimes losing these kind of guys happens. Every year, to every team. Keep something in mind.....most of these guys will bolt to make more $$ somewhere else....even if its not alot more. I gauge my loyalty to a player with that in mind. In the end its about value to the team, and I'm all about the team.

It's sad but with the guaranteed $ and the max two year value, it's just a little too much for us to match.
I think what the Jags are also paying for is Bobo's unmatched work ethic & attitude to hopefully boost their team mentality positively.
This is Jakes chance to make some money and contribute as a WR before his NFL career ends.
He will be 29 years old when his Jville contract ends in 2027.

I think it will soon be time to wish Jake well, shake his hand and congratulate him on a job well done.

Bringing players back without guarantees is a bit of a game, and some times GMs misplay it. Maybe the Seahawks would have honoured the RFA tag and retained Bobo at $3.52M. I don't believe they would have because Bobo was behind Smith-Njigba, Kupp, Horton, Young, and White when they tagged him...plus they were hoping to bring back Shaheed. That's without the Draft and UDFAs.

If they had no intention of honouring the tag they could have used the more expensive 2nd round tag. It's as easy to withdraw a 2nd round tag as it is to withdraw an original round tag. They could have told Bobo they would let him go for a 7th or future 6th and invited him to find a trade partner. Alternatively they could have kept him through preseason and then given him the pay-cut or be cut shaft. I don't like it either - but it's business. My guess is they didn't expect Bobo to find a team that would offer him any guarantees. I kinda-sorta did expect it, but I didn't expect $4.5M in guarantees over 2 seasons. Hats off to Bobo's agent.

Jacksonville under Cohen employs a short game and Bobo is a better fit for them. Seahawks can nab another developmental prospect to take Bobo's spot on the depth chart.

Definitely. I have personalized 12s of the last 2 (Reebok/Nike). If Bobo goes, JSN will be the only active player jersey I have (found a cheap Rivalries version online a couple months ago).
