Jadeveon Clowney reunion?

You don't remember his 2019 away game against the Niners? It was one of the best of his career. Five tackles, a sack, a strip sack, a fumble return for TD, and innumerable pressures all over the field? So many Hawk fans remember him for that one game, and forget all the games where he had little to no impact.

Part of the reason he plays on so many one-year contracts is that he himself sees all of his contracts as one year deals. When he was playing for the Panthers, he said that he views all of his contracts as one-year deals, and if he overplays the contract, he will go upstairs to negotiate a new deal.

He is a scheme fit player, and an inconsistent one at that. His time in Seattle is not an aberration. He disappears for several games (while remaining consistently stout against the run), but then absolutely dominates on occasion. Teams bring him in to bolster their line for a year, before finding someone younger and/or more consistent.

It has been a great strategy for him, netting just shy of $100 million for a player who likely doesn't break half that on long-term deals.

I'd bring him in on a heavily incentive laden contract. I think he has a motivation issue, and needs something to stay engaged.

His game for us against the Niners was one of the best ever by anyone. By itself HOFer.

Been monitoring this thread so far, and don't necessarily disagree with anybody. I'm a bit ambivalent about bringing Clowney in, at least right now. I'd keep my options open and see how our guys are surviving camp. If somebody drops out, then JC could be a good option, but I wouldn't sacrifice someone right now or risk subtracting valuable reps from current players. I'd rather stick to our young guys.

IIRC, he dominated against the Eagles that season too. One of those was a playoff game.

McDougald was the Seahawks defensive star of that playoff game, registering 11 tackles and 1 sack.

Clowney, with 5 tackles and 1 sack, is best remembered for knocking Wentz out with a helmet to helmet hit that went unpenalized, something the Eagles' fans complained about for years, which is entirely on character for them. So, if by dominating the Eagles you mean taking out their QB on a questionable hit, then yes, yes he did.

He was inactive for the regular season matchup, having suffered a hip injury the week before. His health is another reason he's never secured a long-term contract.

Of course, he also should have been flagged for illegal hands to the face in one of his QB sacks of Jimmy G during the game he dominated. But maybe that wasn't a flag in 2019. I can't remember when that became a thing.
