A new era of greater openness in Oakland I would think.

Del Rio makes the hiring on the other side of the bay look even worse. Tomsula can't form a complete sentence. The Raiders will win more games next year than the whiners.

They are now out from under cap hell .... lots of elbow room.

2013 ... $46,435,209 in dead cap burden.

2014 ... $17,742,467 in dead cap burden.

2015 ... $916,025 in dead cap burden at this time.

Edit: Cap space for 2015 ..... $56,192,366

For whatever reason my old hatred of the Raiders has dissolved. Where I used to literally and eagerly pack brass knuckles for Raiders week, now I root for them to succeed.

Pete, Tags and now Roger hold a grudge against the franchise. No way in hell they'd let any other franchise play in the coliseum. No way in hell. Especially a franchise like the Raiders with multiple Lombardis.

Del Rio is a great hire. That franchise needed a coach who's floor is mediocrity. Del Rio is a bland, yet perfect hire.

XOXO

I think Del Rio can bring back the Nasty in Oakland, he had it as a player and can get away with it in the not so PC environment of Oakland. As far as a GM goes, McKenzie is doing well given the situation he was handed, I think we start seeing things begin working in the roster going forward.

Yeah Reggie McKenzie didn't have much to work with when he got there, I think his first draft he didn't have a pick til the 4th round and only had 3 picks? If there was ever a case for needed time and patience it was him (and Gus Bradley).

Yea, why?

This GM took a team with a bazillion in dead money and pulled them out of cap hell and put them in a position to draft well and develop young talent and be able to spend money on resigning their key guys. Carr is looking like a great find... a solid NFL starter that could turn into a franchise QB.

The Broncos are in a freefall, San Diego has too many players that are long in the tooth -- a few more guys and the Raiders might see the playoffs within the next two years. Del Rio has a shot...

Would you have predicted at the beginning of this season that the Raiders would be in better shape than the 49ers going into 2015?

WOW!

I did see the niners crashing back to Earth and that Carr was going to be the best QB of his draft class. I didn't expect Carr to fall to the Raiders though.

The Raiders have about $60 million in cap space. They could be really good really soon if they are careful.

I think McKenzie has made some really bad moves that have made them a worse team over the last three seasons. He hired Dennis Allen. He traded for Matt Flynn. His first two drafts have been abysmal.

At the same time, I see where people are coming from in wanting to give McKenzie a little more time to put a roster together, given how handicapped they were by the salary cap and the Carson Palmer trade.

Carr and Mack say different.

The free agent signings last year were reactionary and bad, with the exception of Penn. Dennis Allen was a bad decision, trying to borrow Green Bay mojo. But some of his draft decisions have been good, a QB and a pass rush can cover up some ills.

That was his 3rd draft class. His first two were gawd awful. And I agree, his 3rd class was a success in its first year.
