Percy Harvin is scheduled to come back in 1-2 weeks.

If you know there would be an absolute agreement, would you like this trade?

Sidney Rice to CAR for DT Dwan Edwards.

Seahawks get out of Rice's contract and get much needed DT depth. Edwards played most of his career with the Ravens so he probably can provide veteran depth at all positions other than LEO. Seahawks have better chance to re-sign Tate and keep Baldwin around at least a year as an RFA. With Rice gone, Seahawks can utilize the size factor of Kearse and Swill more to see what they really have.

Carolina gets a much needed 2nd WR to pair with Smith. Newton would love a WR with Rice's abilities in the clutch.

A 27 year old former pro-bowl receiver for a 32 year old DT?

The contract is an issue but that's a lopsided trade with 2-3 years production at best

If I'm trading, I'm trading a WR to the Ravens so I'm getting something great in return. Or, at least Haloti Ngata.

Edited to make more sense.

I'd rather see us trade for an offensive lineman, seeing how that's definitely the weakest link on our team, and a few of the defensive linemen on PUP will be back by week 6, so depth on the D-Line shouldn't be an issue by the time the trade deadline hits.

With that being said... I can't see us trading Rice. He's been one of Wilson's most reliable receivers and our offense is weaker than our defense. I could see us trading Browner with Thurmond and Maxwell performing as well as they have and Lane coming up in the wings, considering Browner's contract is coming up this offseason.

Yeah I would like that the Panthers should thrown a pick for the age gap but this would likely be a deal where the Seahawks would make the first move.

But Rice also has legit durability concerns and a injury history coming at a big price in the future.

So to me it off-sets and honestly above anything else I really want to keep Tate. He's going to want money and playing time ... we can't afford that with Rice and Harvin on the roster.

I'd rather have Rice and see what we get from Hill at DT before I do something like this.

LOL. Two Sidney Rice's aren't worth Ngata.

It's almost like I was using hyperbole given how bad the Ravens WR need is and how much I like having Rice on our team.

Browner was actually my first choice for Edwards but then there wouldn't have been any point really.

With Rice, you get out of his contract and have a better chance to retain Tate.

With Edwards we get a Chartric Darby type boost and insurance. Edwards had a monster year at 31 years old in 2012.

It also would be a difficult task to get an Olineman and get him acclimated into the ZBS scheme mid-season.

Also, like I said Harvin comes back to replace Rice. So its not like the Seahawks would take a big hit. Russell still has big targets in Miller, Willson, and Stepehen Williams plus Seahawks have athletic TE/WR in Cooper Helfet (6'4, 240) on the PS.

Besides most of you think Rice will be released after this season, anyway. Nobody is going to trade for him in the off season too many options at half the price plus the draft. Best chance would be to do it mid-season to a desperate team.

Trades like this don't really happen in the NFL, let alone at the trade deadline.

Why would Carolina want to take on Sidney Rice's contract?

Because just like last year, their WRs not named Steve Smith suck.

But it still wouldn't happen mid-season.

I think we'd have had to pay two first round picks for a guard.

So I'll pass.

Why? We could have traded a first and a 4th and gotten Kyle Long, who is going to be the best guard in the NFL in the next couple years.
