I know we're ramping up for an epic playoff run here, but at this time of the year, 2/3 of the league is done and major changes are taking place.

Right now, Cleveland is a dumpster fire. There might not be a fire sale, like Chicago was doing for a bit, but there are high level guys who are finally tired of being there. The writing is on the wall for guys like Joe Thomas. He's been on record that he's tired of the QB carousel that they've had going there, they just fired a HC that the players liked, and there really isn't a plan in place going forward to win anything.

He's been one of the best LT's in the league for a good while. I know he's getting older, but he's been incredibly durable. I'm not a fan of trading picks for older players, but Thomas looks like he can play at a high level for another 3-4 years. That keeps us at a very high level for our current window.

Thomas is an elite pass blocker and run blocker who fits our system. I honestly haven't scouted him to know if he's dropped off at all, but most pundits still name him a top 3 LT in the league.

Okung is hitting FA. If it was me, I'd offer him between 6-8 million; he's worth it and has value there. (Going rate for a LT is about 10 mil/year, Okung plays about 70% of snaps per year, do the math). He'll likely not take it, and get more in FA.

What do you folks think ?

I mean no disrespect ..... but I think this topic might be better appreciated in a fantasy forum.

I think we resign Okung at a competitive rate. I doubt any team paying him a lot of money with his health history. How can you give someone 8-10 million when he's always missing games during the season?

About handing the first for Joe Thomas? Sure, as long as we take care of our own stars first. We need to pay Chancellor better and see what the Lynch situation would be this year. We also have to resign Baldwin and he is going to be a hot player in the market. Teams will be coming after him.

It would be amazing to see Lockett, P-Rich, Baldwin and Graham lined up on 3 WR 1 Te set. That's a nice set of weapons for Russ.

At this point, i'd prefer not to bring in top dollar players from other teams in trades or FA.
I think Okung hit's free agency but re-signs.

Baldwin is signed through 2016 but is underpaid considering his numbers this season and consistency during his tenure.

So, we won't pay Okung for missing time, but we'll give Chancellor a raise, for missing time and holding out. Makes sense.

All I'm saying here is that Kam isn't going to get more money. After this season, all it would mean is that the Seahawks gave into his demands, just a year later.

I'm assuming Thomas didn't just sign a new deal (lazy I know!), so he's probably an OK value for what his production is. I know he's getting paid less than Trent Williams.

And yes, I'm good with resigning Okung to a value deal. Problem is, there's a ton of teams out there that would take the 10 games a year he would play at a high level and over pay for it.

I like the thinking a lot, but just one problem.

A 1st rounder is a lot to give up for a guy who turns 32 next season. Big Walt was out of the league at age 34. Hutch was out of the league at age 35. Very few offensive lineman remain effective for long after turning 30. It's not a position not known for great longevity.

For the right price, I'd do it. But I'd see it as a 2-3 year bandaid at LT.

Kam hasnt played so well thid year its warranted. He hurt the team with the holdout and wont be rewarded. I could see the team moving on, holding on to Mccray and drafting his eventual replacement.

Okung, Kelvin Beachum (if healthy), Cordy Glenn are free agents.

Keep the 1st rounder and sign one of these guys.

I'm gonna go out on a limb about the original question and say, no, not to us.
