Is it just me or is Kyler Murray bang average?

I honestly cant see what all the fuss is about and i think hes going to be a massive bust. To me hes riding the number one pick hype but so far he hasn't lived up to that.

Every average throw he makes is treated like it's a world beater and when he makes his numerous mistakes they are forgiven easily. I don't get it, what am I missing?

Well, he seems to have all he throws, and he is quick on his feet. He reminds many of us of a young Russ Wilson. I suspect, though, that he will only go as far as that offensive system takes him. Variations of that college "run and shoot" stuff have been tried before and eventually have fallen by the wayside. Looking at the Lambs, who do something similar, it looks maybe like the league is figuring it out.

Murray is talented, TBS, but you can't fool the NFL for long.

He reminds many of a rookie Wilson ; but Wilson had a decent team around him . Murray doesn't have much support around him yet ; and having a rookie HC calling plays makes it hard too . The Cards are in rebuild mode and would suspect that in a year or two AZ will be contending in the division . Murray has got the tools to do well IMO.

Hard to say with such a crap team around him.
I think he has potential. His biggest issue IMHO will be staying healthy.
People are comparing him to Russ, but he’s built nothing like Russ.
Russ is a compact muscular guy.

Which calls into question, which came first, the chicken or the egg? When Pete & John first came here, they ignored the QB position for a year or so while they built the D and worked on other skill positions. They built the team first and then grabbed Russ when he fell to them.

I think too many teams jump on that glamorous 1st RD QB too soon, and make him play with no help around him for a couple of years. Some QBs never get over losing so many games and taking so many hits in their first couple of years.

I like how we did it.

Was in the car briefly today and heard Bayless talking about Murray from yesterday's game. Was very impressed with that final drive. You know, after the game was out of reach. But specifically talked about the QB draw and how for all the sacks, he's never seen Murray take a direct shot. IT'S BEEN 4 GAMES!!! I'm not saying I hope he gets hit. I think he is actually kind of fun to watch. Really quick and has a sneaky gun of an arm. But eventually he is going to take a big hit. Probably more than one and it's going to slow him down.

This begs the question why would you listen to (Skip king of the Cowboy fellaters) Bayless, ever?

I think he will be bust because his body will not hold up
when he decides to run off script..That will be his demise.
He has to be in the shotgun all the time because he really
cannot see at the line.He is shorter and lot smaller than RW
so to me there is no comparasion.I think it's an insult to RW.
KM arm isn't close to RW..I'm glad we didn't try for him ha ha

When my kids aren't in the car and I can put the radio on something other than Kids' Bop, I pick the first thing that doesn't have commercials.

He seems to see the field well, especially running for his life so much, he has a whole line of Iupati's he has the off balance throw down and decent velocity, very quick on his feet. Didn't take really any direct hits or de cleats.

The question is can he survive a rebuild project and keep making guys tackle and hit him off center.

Fair. Cowturd is almost as big of a Cowboy homer as Skipper so he's not worth a listen. Might I recommend Pro Football Talk Live with Mike Florio and Chris Simms (I believe 6:00 AM Eastern)?

He has at least two tools that are in my checklist of being necessary for being a better than average to elite QB:
1) He can make accurate throws from awkward angles and positions.
2) He has what I call the "balls" factor. That is, he will stand in there and take a hit and make the throw.

I see a lot of comparisons to Wilson, and I guess I can get it, but definitely NOT Wilson as he is now. As I've watched Wilson throughout his career, for a long time he was a bit behind on quick timing routes and quickly recognizing things in the secondary, but it didn't matter since he had the ability to escape pressure in the pocked WHILE REMAINING IN CONTROL (contrast that with Kaepernick, who was reckless and looking to get up field when running). Wilson has extended that to a new level the last year or two (especially what I see from him this year). It seems the game has really slowed down for him, and he is absolutely orchestrating the field, and he's improved a lot in the quick pocket passing department.

As much as I dislike division rivals like the Seahawks (obviously), I can't deny that it was fun to watch him doing what Steve Young used to do the last game. I'd say Wilson has finely, truly arrived. I always thought he was similar to Steve Young, but now he's hit that level where the game is slow, and his movement is just to manipulate things down field, always keeping ahead of the chains. He's done this before, but it seems there's a stronger calmness with him.

Okay, enough fellating Wilson. There is a point to this. Namely, Murray hasn't shown that he has that control over what he's doing. He's an excellent athlete, but he's still just reacting, like Kaepernick (although he is a more accurate passer, I think - at least based on what I've seen so far). For all these comparisons to Wilson, Wilson ran schemes in college that were a lot closer to the NFL, and it's probably helped his development. Murray has not fallen onto a good roster, and if the team keeps losing, he might lose the crutch of the system he is in. And who knows what that might do to him.

Wilson has had two great things happen to him, he landed here for a team with a Coach that understands development, he has had two very good guys as OC's that are also QB coaches and very good ones outshining their OC credentials especially in Bevells case. But Schotty is a very good QB coach and has a legacy of success with those he has worked with, not a coincidence that Wilson has shown marked improvement in seeing the field and decisions since the beginning of last season. Brees said it was one of the great things Schotty helped him learn as well.

I'm one of those people who believes that Bevell's scheme when he was in Seattle was fairly ideally tailored to Wilson's strengths and weaknesses at the time (and Marshawn Lynch's strengths - it was a good balance, stretching the defense horizontally to make room for Lynch, while at the same time making Wilson's job easier in terms of passing lanes and reads).

As for Schotty's influence on Wilson, maybe. But to me it simply appears that experience has slowed the game down for him. In fact, I'd say his real progression from decent QB to elite QB began in 2015. Besides, decision making has NEVER been one of Wilson's weaknesses. He came out of the box being smart with the football.

Of course, I haven't watched enough of them to know for certain what Schotty's effect has been. It does appear that the offense is a little less dependent upon predetermined throws, but as I said above, I think some of what Bevell was doing was pretty ideal for the combination of Wilson and Lynch. But again, Wilson has clearly grown as a quarterback.

I think he WILL be a good player. But not all-pro immediately like some people were trying to crown him.
He also doesn't exactly have a lot to work with. Seems like a good kid, and I also heard on 710 that a few Hawks players were saying he was going to "be a problem" in a couple years. I can see that. Good arm and a hell of a scrambler.
