I thought he was only paid that much because a few teams was bidding for his services.

I didn’t care though, injuries aside, targets aside, he’s been every bit of a quality to great all-around TE.

And he is a heart and soul type team player on and off the field. Something I think is often overlooked but so instrumental in team building. And a big reason why I thought both Diggs and Dissly were priority signings despite the injury concerns.

I don't blame people for defaulting to the view that it was simply an overpay. Seattle hasn't been above reproach in their FA decisions.

With that said, it's incredibly clear that they had a plan for their three headed monster at TE, and it's really coming to fruition. What an excellent way to offset their relative lack of depth and talent at WR beyond Metcalf/Lockett.

These guys are awesome to watch. I've seen teams effectively use 2 TE's...but we involve all 3 in run/block/pass in a way I don't remember seeing another team use. I could be wrong. The flexibility it gives Waldron is insane.

The historical poor use of the TE position warranted folks to double take at the deal. Given a complete 180 on TEs in our offense, well worth it!

You are correct. I remember reading that several teams had made offers and the Seahawks didn't want to lose him so just stepped up to the plate. Glad they did. Uncle Will is a damn good player. I've seen videos that show he's a damn good teammate as well.
