It was absolutely an area of need. Seattle is a lot like San Francisco in that the big reason our #1 is such a stats monster is the same reason that McCaffery is such a stats monster, most everything runs through these guys.

If either goes down, their team is going to struggle. Both are at risk of injury, due to overuse.

Now McCaffery is far more important to the Niners, than JSN is to us — losing him would be akin to losing BOTH Darnold and JSN, but the point remains.

We have too many eggs in the JSN basket. We would do well to protect him from overuse, and overexposure to injury.

As much as I would love to see him getting the record for receiving yards, I’d much prefer a deep run.
McCaffery is the whiners entire offense. Fact. If he goes down the whiners are done.

I don't get people wanting to hold people out for certain later games, I
want players who want to play and can go at it with little aches and pains.
This is not the NBA and "Load management" FFS.
What players do you think don't wanna' play? Coaches make the decision.
I guarantee there isn't a player on this team that doesn't want to play when they're injured. Not how this team is at all.

With this many defensive injuries on both sides, it's starting to look like the Bucs game all over again. I hope it doesn't end the same way.

Brutal injury report this week. No Jones, no Horton, bevy of other questionnable designations including Kupp. Urgh.

On the other side of the coin, though :

Looks like Arizona may be without their starting corners, both are DNP for Thursday's practice. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ge...ort-vs-seahawks/ar-AA1PXzLF?ocid=BingNewsSerp

Getting Shaheed is turning out to be more fortunate as far as timing goes as Sunday approaches.

It won't because Jacoby Brissett is NOT Baker Mayfield.

Besides, we have SPOON this time WITH Emmanwori out there.

We didn't have him (or rather anyone) out there against the Bucs.

If WR was a need then by that definition every position is a need because we can upgrade every position with the right trade.
Need is defined by the players you have.... Kupp injured... not his normal self.. Bobo.. hasn't seen diddly.... Horton is dealing with injuries.

So... we have JSN and a hobbled Horton... yep... all we need is two right?

EDIT: oh my bad White with his first TD on a terrible tackle read by the corner. CHRIS MATHEWS.... weeee....

Is it really different than what we've endured over the last 3 weeks though?

Just to put it in perspective, the Cardinals have lost seven games this year by a total of 16 points. They’ve been in literally every game that they’ve lost.

The difference between good teams and bad is that the good teams WIN most of the close games.

So glad that monkey is off our backs.

Make no mistake with all our injuries there is one thing that wins this game...Pass Rush. Get to the QB early and often and it solves problems behind the DL. That is my take on this. I personally hope to see more Kendrick on defense (ball hawk) and White at WR. Both of those guys are complete ballers and I feel they need more opportunities. I know the coaches have alerts set up to see when I post, so don't be shocked when they both see lots of time this game.

Short term injuries is what the practice squad (ready squad) is for and they have performed just fine. Trades are for permanent needs/wants. This trade wasn’t necessitated by a shortage T th e WR position it was about getting a talented player at a good cost to the team moving forward.

You can't deny though that the timing of signing Shaheed just as Horton was having injury issues is pretty fortunate.

I think the injury is more coincidental to the trade than the other way around.

I will say though that if he is a need right now it’s in the return game. That is something you don’t need time to learn plays and we have two returners on the injury list. This is where I can agree that it is more of a need. Getting a WR who should learn the playbook quickly and take the top off defenses (for me) is just a bonus, but a huge bonus.
