Impressed with AJ Barner

Certainly not the fastest that we’ve ever had but seems to have good hands, is a big body, and not afraid of contact. Somewhat like Parkinson, but a stronger frame. Having a pretty decent rookie season.

He did have one pretty bad drop and completely screwed up one protection late in the game, but overall I was impressed as well. I thought he stepped up with Fant being out.

You and I must have watched a different game.

What I saw in Barner is a blocking TE that doesn't dominate his assignments.

And a receiver that is consistent with being a blocking TE... questionable hands.

Big kid,pretty good hands,needs to block better. Not bad for a rookie.

He seems to be prone to 1-2 mental gaffes per game, but I suppose that's forgivable for a mid-round rookie. He has been much more of a factor in the passing game than I thought he'd be. I didn't like the pick at the time, and no not because of who he played for, but I didn't think he did much of what I thought we needed at the position. Glad to see he's a quick learner.

I was deflated when we picked him but he has been better than I thought.
I'd be very happy to move on from Fant. He isn't good or fast or special in any way. Might as well save some money and cut him.

Hes doing pretty good for a rookie all things considered. We need more TE depth though thats for certain. Theres a reason why the Donkeys easily moved on from him after selecting him 20th in the draft.
