"I didn't know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well."

I was so proud of Mike when he said that, it needed to be said. It was in no way sour grapes.
One of the greatest and most devoted fan bases ever was filled with the anticipation & excitement of winning their first Super Bowl and the path to the result was cruel and unfair.
That brave statement didn't fix anything or even quell the pain to any degree. But it did send a message outside our realm that we were not going to be quiet patsies and though our great team didn't play our best game, the deck was stacked against us.

Mike Holmgren deserves to be in the HOF.

Well after 40 we as a Franchise have a permanant chip on our shoulders as fans as well, knowing your better but the league and Offcials can steal a win from you, that and the Bias being shown that week.

Pissed us all off, but leveraged us to have an attitude we carry as a franchise and fan base going forward.

Hate the Seahawks NFL office, you created this Monster called the 12th Man Or 12's now that used to be happy being at home, now we are everywhere. I'm sure this team has something somewhere saying never take for granted or forget 40 also.

You can say this about a lot of teams.

Seahawks are also a couple of plays away from not going to the Super Bowl in 2013 and 2025.

I've heard this comment a lot from fellow 12s. The only explanation I have is that we skipped right over that 2012 type of season. It doesn't always have to be a gradual process. Sometimes it's just your year!
I wouldn't say that our Lombardi still hasn't hit me, but I understand the sentiment.

I started getting a very subjective, championship-type feeling sometime around Thanksgiving and the first Rams game, and it wasn't just from looking at our team.

The two defending conference champs, Chiefs and Eagles, both looked very beatable, the Lions and Niners both looked as if their windows had closed, and the teams that were having successful seasons, ie Colts, Pats, Broncos, Packers, all looked like they were playing with mirrors, that they weren't as good as their records would indicate.

When we beat the Rams at home on TNF, I was about 90% sure that we'd end the season by hoisting the Lombardi.

Yeah, but my Seahawk fan conditioning kicked in and I worried all through the playoffs.

I didn't have a championship feeling until we beat the Rams in the playoffs. And that was made possible by a midseason trade. Amazing how many things went right.

I wouldn't say that I wasn't worried. I watched every single play from the edge of my seat, uptight the entire time. Any bad play, like when Woolen got that taunting penalty vs. the Rams in the NFCCG, it would send me into a tirade laced with 4 letter words.

I've thought about it a time or 3 million.

I must admit, I've come to embrace and love my pathological hatred for Steelers fans. At this point in my life, I don't know what I'd do without it.

I enjoy taking pics of Steeler fans when I see them. Every time I see one, they have THE DIRTIEST attire I have ever laid my eyes upon. I should make a page about it, kinda like the Walmart shoppers page years back.

Superbowl 40 made me bitter. When the integrity of the game is clearly compromised, it’s tough to tell what’s real and what’s not.

However, to win the Superbowl just eight years later was great.

And a couple plays away from going to two more as well and I think winning it since we were in the AFC those years playing in onme of the two toughest divisions in football.

Honestly, it still hasn't hit me we won this year. I'm not sure if it hasn't by now, will it ever?
I agree it's kinda weird . Unexpected really. I for one had my mind made up that they would improve this last season , make the playoffs and fall short of the SB.
Then NEXT season they'd fill in the missing pieces and win it all.

How dare they win every game after November 16th and just go ahead and win it all.

There are a lot of teams and players in the NFL that would give anything for one Lombardi let alone two.
I'm sure Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson would give up their Regular Season MVP awards for Sammy D's Lombardi.
