“What I’ve learned is that the game is easier than practice,” Lane said.

I cannot recall how many times I heard or read similar statements from USC players while Pete was the head coach of the Trojans. And now we're starting to hear it from Seahawks players. In my estimation, this is a really good sign.

Let the good times roll!

Hummmm...why then didn't the Hawks play better the 1st half of the Rams game last Sunday? There was mistake after mistake!!!

A good theory.....but if their practice was so good and hard, then it shouldn't have mattered. NFL football is a mental game more than a physical one. I pray that Pete will have a good game plan for this Sunday...it will be vital!

Yep. Even the best teams can have an off week, but that preparation can help them overcome it. That's why getting such a tough game is actually helpful. They know they can gut it out now.

I don't get the point you're trying to make

The Rams game was definitely good practice for our O-line, and defending the blitz, which the Redskins do a lot. Practice....wake up call, whichever.

So having a slow first half against a very tough/upcoming opponent playing their lights out in their "playoff" game somehow indicates they don't practice well??

Interesting.

The Redskins aren't in the same league as the Rams in terms of pass rush. They've got 32 sacks, Seattle has 36 sacks on the season the Rams had 52 sacks on the year.

The better you practice, the better you play. As Russell would say, "The separation is in the preparation." USC was known for having high-energy, fast-paced practices with ones versus ones. Players frequently said that practice was harder than the actual game. The results showed on the field.

We are now seeing/hearing that same statement with regards to the Seahawks. I take that as a good sign.

As to Bigpumpkin's comments, there is no way that any team can practice for every eventuality. Sometimes the opposition just comes up with stuff you don't expect, some of your players have off days, etc. That happens to every team. The good teams can overcome this more often than not, just as the Hawks ultimately did against the Rams.

This is what I was gonna say. The Rams don't have to blitz to get pressure while the Redskins generally do. Russ goes to work and finds the breaks in coverage when he's blitzed. It's those DL's that don't have to blitz that gives him more problems. I'm not too worried about our offense scoring in this game. Even if RG3 and Morris find ways to carve us up, it will just make it a shootout that we will still have a good chance to win.

We won the game didn't we? The Whiners used the excuse of the New England game to come out flat against us. Our game with them was big time and a great win but we WON the next week. Ugly or not, our boys showed up and got the job done.
