I was actually going to post a thread on this guy but I couldn't remember how to spell his name, I'm pretty sure he has already beaten out Dallas for kick return duties, now if he could only do punt returns as well.

I feel like he's gotten the ball to the 35+ on almost every return. It's wild, his KR vision is amazing.

I've always been interested in why certain teams use different people for punt and kick returns. It surely cant be that much different can it?

Different trajectories on how the ball comes down could be a factor. More variables in how one processes each kick mentally could be another as the return of a kickoff has less options than a punt.

Starting at the 35 means 30 yards from points. If the Hawks can't muster 30 yards, they don't deserve him. Dude is a pure stud!

Its all about pressure. With kicks, its just catching a football. With punts its catching the ball while being slammed at 20 MPH.

The emergence of Igwebuike really helps to numb the pain of losing Dee Eskridge (if you even want to call him a loss at this point) and looks much sharper at returning kicks than DeeJay Dallas ever did. It's a small sample size, but I hope the trend continues.

Yes. Kickoffs are off of a tee which means the ball is more likely to tumble end over end. Punts come off of the foot from a drop and the punter tries to generate some spin on the ball so it flies more true in his attempt to put the ball in a specific area. Catching each has its own tricks to it.

Also, coverage on a punt can develop much faster than a Kickoff. So the pressure can escalate quicker as well.

Now I remember why I used to come here. Reasoned debate like this. I do take your points but surely its ultimately catching and then running?

The team can bring him up once more before a decision must be made PS or sign him to the 53. Suspect he finds himself on the 53 before too long.
