If Hawks are going heavy run, I'd trade DK

I would never want to see DK traded but if he's not going to be used....

If we're going heavy run, I'd rather see small-quick-move the chains type receivers. Those like Baldwin, Lockett, Edellman, Beasley etc.

I'd also like Russ to lose twenty pounds and get his quickness back.

Once again I'm not a fan of DK leaving but if we go run heavy, DK will be miserable. I recall Doug eluding to the notion that the Hawks receiving core would have been so much better if the offense highlighted them. I just can't imagine a guy like DK, who has potential to be the GOAT, being on a run heavy team and being happy.

Not in agreement, nor do I disagree. All I know is if DK would be unhappy, I don't want him here. No room for malcontents if the teams goal is to win a SB.

We were 18th in the NFL this season with 411 rushing attempts and 7th in the NFL in yards per rushing attempt. Nobody is suggesting we should give up on the passing game, and if it can keep our offense on the field longer then a slightly higher run percentage could result in more total passing plays overall.

I think we’re getting carried away here. Just because we want to run the ball more and be better at it, doesn’t mean we aren’t going to be passing the ball often. Tomlin in Pittsburgh is literally talking the same thing right now after getting rid of his OC.

You've got a QB who is probably the best deep ball passer in the league and you want to get rid of a receiver who his top end speed and is a great deep ball catcher? Just throw the deep ball off of play action. TD

Also I think DKs slant game is pretty good as well.

Actually with DK's big body size and strength, I think he can be an excellent run blocker.

Even if I agreed with the premise of this, which I don’t, I can’t think of anything we could reasonably get for him that would be worth it to me. I’m not even listening to anything that isn’t well over market value.

With 83 receptions with 15.7 yards per catch, that is the perfect run-heavy deep ball WR that is needed for Pete-Ball. Think Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett types at USC.

Personally not a fan of trading our best young players, but maybe that is just me.

No. It's not like we're going to run the ball every single snap. He will still get his opportunities here.

Let him play out his rookie contract. He will be needed to win.

Not a chance in hell do I trade DK. As mentioned already, DK fits perfectly with Carroll.

Removing DK allows a safety to live inside the box, which limits the ability to run the ball. The threat of DK, especially as he gets better is significant, and an asset to the team.

Bingo. And a good run game will open up passing lanes which will make him easier to hit over the middle and force the defense to cheat forward which will open up the top end.

No way they let him go or that just because the strategy is to run better that the inference should be that we wont pass. We might not throw it 35 times every game but there's every reason to believe that the WR's will actually benefit. As will Russ.

so first PC later clarified it is not so much run more but run more effectively. I suspect we will still throw the ball 30+ a game. We are not going to go down to 20 passes a game. He also alluded to wanting to find the balance between his run systems and the pass system we had in games 1-5. In fact they were discussing it on KJR and the Professor said this exact thing. They are trying to find that sweet spot between the two.

If the Colts want to give me Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, Jonathan Taylor, and their next 2 first round picks, sure!

Yep we should trade him for another RB and throw in Wilson as well, a three horned attack in the backfield, they called it the wishbone once, we don't need WR's either so trade Lockett also. We can just run every play, even on 4th down then.

I love DK. My son loves him..he has 3-4 DK jerseys (I had to sell my heart...got a pacemaker now, to get it), framed photos, etc...his Xmas list had DK all over it. But if I'm DK, I'm on the first thing smoking out of Seattle when my contracts up.

Even with the season he had, he's being underutilized and there's only one person to blame for that. It appears likely that it won't get better.

I'd be shocked if any of our receivers touch 900 yards next year...let alone 1K.

A deep threat makes a DC think twice about stacking the box.

If the defense had played in those first 5 like they did at the end, I wonder if Schotty would still be on board and if we'd even be having this discussion.
