He's not looking for the perfect opening. He's looking for an opening. Like, any opening at all, and there rarely is one.

Naw, I don't mean when he's behind the line with no opening. For example, when he bounced to the outside on that last run. He has two possible openings, and waits for the right one to develop. Can't do that in this league. He's done it twice today.
