Do you know that for sure? I didn't. Like I said though, I could be wrong. But my point still stands. We need what we need to shore up our line no matter the position. It just happens to be guard now.

It seemed to me that the poster was referring to getting an OLman to "shore up the line and give some leadership", not a guard in particular. But I could be wrong. Guard was just one of the interior OL positions we just happen to be in need of shoring up now. Just like when we needed a C and signed Robbie Tobeck in 2000 to form one of the greatest center/left combos in NFL history along with Hutch and Walter.

The thread title references IOL. That would be a non-tackle in my dictionary.

My whole point was about right now, or very soon. I've become a believer that we could really surprise this year. I'm on board. How do we get better now or soon to better protect our QB who's surprising most all including me, and a run game that he/we are dependent upon to be successful? I was up for the hunt. Let's go for it!!!

Okay. I guess people don't see this as a concern as we fight for a playoff spot and possibly the division title moving forward. But I reserve the right to say "I told you so" if someone goes down to injury, or if we don't get enough of the overall push and protection there when we face teams like the Bucs, Rams, Texans, Vikings, Falcons, all teams with good defenses. I'm not sold on either Bradford or Haynes. I'm fine with Cross and Zabel, tentatively hopeful about Lucas, and okay with Sundell. I'd personally just feel a lot better if we brought in a proven vet OLman who could anchor the interior of the OL. Then we'd also have a little more depth there.

I'm feeling good about us now. Good enough to want to shore this line up for a run. That's all.

Pass blocking is a defensive retrograde activity. Trading space for time.

It is run blocking that goes on the attack. Bully Ball.

Besides most of us recognize the severe shortage of offensive linemen ..... an ongoing NFL problem yet to be solved.

Growing chemistry and communication is where growth will come from as the season unfolds.

I think you mean shortage of "good" OL, there is tons of OL who played
in pass happy spreads in college who can't handle the power game of the
NFL.
It disgusts me watching an old OL like Evan Brown making young ones look
pathetic.

Bradford did show up in much better condition this year. However, his feet are still heavier than his team mates. He was drafted for the Pete Carroll era and I suspect he is a better fit for a dedicated power scheme in contrast to a zone scheme. Tight splits and compressed formations help minimized his movement limitations. The team certainly has the coaching and player commitment for improved line play as the season unfolds.

He literally got pushed back at the snap so bad he stepped on Darnolds foot. Bradford is trash

About 25 teams need help on the offensive line, and no one is going to trade us a decent guard. The Saints just signed Sataoa Laumea, who we cut from our practice squad.

But you're right. We need help. Bradford really sucked last night. I saw him completely whiff on a few blocks. I'm afraid to see how low his PFF score was. And Jalen Sundell looked pretty bad, too. He was okay the first three games, but he looked awful against the Cardinals. I'm thinking that we might have to put Olu back in there because Sundell looked overmatched yesterday.

Proclaiming victory if we do get an injury would be pretty ridiculous. Almost every team has that happen every year and every year teams try to put together decent back ups.
I just find the I told you so's and hand wringing bewailing our O line to be over the top. Every team has O line issues. Every team.

Yeah, maybe that wasn't a good look for me. I was just surprised that people were just fine about standing pat and not wanting to see who was out there potentially to had that could improve our situation.

I think they’ve been looking for some competition for Bradford, not working out so far, and even sundell is unexpected to be starting. I like our guys but anything to ratchet up competition is ok with me

I'm all for drafting talented OL in the 1st rd, but drafting a RG in the 1st rd just to fill a hole isn't the smartest move in my opinion....

I wanted them to take Tate Ratledge with their later second round pick. Not that I don't like Arroyo but Ratledge has been good with the Lions so far.

Right, but what about Zabel he’s a guard. I definitely don’t mean take a guard because you need one. I want another good one please. We’re only going to get one in the draft. All the free agent guards you better read the carfax report

LOL I'm not talking about some pro-bowler in his prime either. It really wouldn't take much for a fairly significant upgrade, some grizzled old vet who'd like to be playing for something besides money near the end of their career.

Bradford is going to be our achilles heel this season on the OL.

Put Lemieux in there or something (for the time being) and maybe we can find a Vet at the deadline or something...
