Great piece thanks for posting. Thought I might have heard once here that he was pushing an Escalade in the parking lot. Would have been awesome if he said he was doing something like that. Little Seahawk left tackle tradition. But I digress, first I heard him in an interview, pretty cool.

"Consistancy that comes from experience, and continued learning and attacking our goals"

He dismisses the idea of individual accolades and says they (offensive line) are a unit, one.

You don't hear much from the trenches crew. It seems when we do though, they got thier turtles all in a row.

I like me some Russ'O

The shoes he has had to fill or huge. The first couple years I would be like the rest of you and very concerned. But now I can see he is maturing and getting better every game.

A few bumps in the road intially, but he seems to be settling in just fine thank you very much. Now if we could only get Carp on the same path...

And to add......Walter Jones had a couple of injury issues his first season or two.

Just sayin' that those who tried to label Okung a wasted pick after his first season should be enjoying their crow now.

:)

edited for grammar-to make sense, ya know. :)

I'll never forget the first time I watched Oklahoma State and I think it was Todd McShay that mentioned he "noticed" Okung while reviewing tape on Jermain Gresham. So I started watching Russell dreaming of our next left tackle, and was just amazed at how low he gets in his stance! The guy is unreal with his knee bend and owns the DL when it comes to leverage and pad level. He looks like a Ninja over there on the left side, or a Tarantula that is about to pounce! I was so jacked when the Redskins selected Trent Williams because I knew Okung was ours! Yea baby!

Then we get this washed up left guard who falls on our franchise left tackles ankle and I wanted to stretch that dude's scrotum over his head! And people were blaming it on Russell "glass ankles." Then Trent Cole body flops him and tears a pectoral, not only no flag, but no fine AND insult to injury, "fans" calling him injury prone. Thank God I'm a patient man! Well, not really, they were just lucky I live so far away! :D

I loved the reference to Alex Gibbs, Russell respects that man and I think he lords it over the new linemen "you never played under Alex Gibbs, the Godfather of the zone blocking scheme." It was fun because there would be videos on Seahawks.com with guys trying to get Okung to talk, he would just smile at them and keep on walking...Gibbs rule for his Olinemen, don't talk to the press!

We are so lucky to have Tom Cable now, this year should be epic with the running game and it's not a stretch for Marshawn to get 2,000 yards.

My only jersey is his in green. It's so much fun giving the finger to "red friday" in the literal sense. My next goal is to get a home jersey of Wilson. Us short people have to stick together don't you know?: :D

I listened to this interview in my car the other day and I have to admit I came away with a much different opinion of Russell Okung. He was open, and dare I say… chatty! He came across as a really likable guy. I was not a fan for a while there. He was the highest paid guy on the team I think at one point and he really was not available due to injuries and subsequently loss of playing time. Last season was a turning point for him though. The Pro-Bowl was justification of that. Now if we could just get an equal turnaround from Carp!

Not quite... but somewhat close..

He was voted to be a Pro Bowl starter... not All Pro.

The 2012 All Pro offensive tackles were Duane Brown and Ryan Clady.
