OK, So maybe I was reaching when I thought that Microsoft had a R&D department.
But Paul Allen definitely has the financial resources to create this
But, seriously, look at the difference between Helmet On and Helmet Off.
He only seems like a robot with his helmet on
I'm following you and agree Paul Allen brings more to the table than just his Microsoft money. Paul Allen and Pete Carroll are match made in heaven.
Consider the culture of Microsoft, a culture that Paul Allen helped create right from the start. My brother has worked at MS for about 10 years now and tells spooky tales of the place. Apparently every year, every MS employee has a performance review. It determines your bonus, possibility of promotion and even if you remain with the company. Seems a few people are let go every year for sometimes often pretty trivial project reports.
Carroll and Allen believe in hard competition even among their own team. It's stressed daily. It was precisely that environment that would even give a "back-up" no-name QB a shot at starting over a high paid veteran like Flynn.
The freedom Pete has to make decisions comes right from the top and I think we owe a great deal of gratitude to Mr. Allen's forethought, competitive nature and organizational principles.
