I don't think he's worth another contract but don't mind him on the Hawks for time time being.

Like I've said from his beginnings with the Hawks, I don't think I've ever changed feelings on someone so much as I have for Golden Tate. Man is a studly NFL player from his first few years when he was pretty horrid.

I have always liked what Rice, but I don't think he is right. I loved what he did last year. He would make some of the most amazing catches. This year he had not been doing that.

I don't know if it's because he's hurt, being double covered or what....but Rice is a total non-factor on this team. He looks like our 4th best WR right now.

Come on down Percey!!!!!

If he plays at the same level as last year then I think he's worth the money. With that said, I wouldn't mind looking for another #1 in the off season.

I came on here just now to start this very thread. But I've been saying this since last year...this guy is way overpaid!

You might as well say your goodbyes right now cause I guarantee you he's the first one gone next year when we need to free up money to sign people.

Last year I would have railed against you but, now I agree. Another high payed WR only out to protect himself and damn the outcome. Yes. You can bring up the Chicago game but, I am sure that he did not expect that.

In the off-season, I felt Rice would be worth keeping if he halved his current deal. After 5 weeks, I'd like to keep him, but now at a 3rd of his current pay. This isn't as much a knock on Rice as it is a compliment to Baldwin and Kearse. With Harvin's big salary and Tate's soon to be, we just have too much $$ in the position and Rice is the only one (way) overpaid. I think it will ultimately be up to him whether he stays or not. I'm fine one way or the other....at $2.5 per year.

i'm kind of done with rice myself, how is it that Kearse makes big plays every time he touches the field, yet Rice can only manage a handful of catches a game if that?

i'm leaning on getting kearse in there instead of Rice, who is a good reciever but can't seem to get open...

I still maintain he is not the same player as last year ; it's his knee or he has lost a step. I watched some video of him in game clips on you tube and he is not looking right.

I too just came here to start the "What in the heck is wrong with Sidney Rice?" thread. I know this - a #1 receiver steps up in games like this ... and right now, I can't call him one. He had 1 catch in this game -- that's it. Double team or not, #1 receivers find a way to make plays and we most certainly needed him to show up big time today. He didn't. Through 5 games, Rice has a grand total of 9 catches, 5 of which came against the Jaguars. That's an issue. I'm thinking that knee is far more of an issue than most of us realize and if this keeps up ... we won't see him in a Hawks uniform next year. I know this -- Percy Harvin can't come back soon enough.

Can it be that missing all that practice time in preseason has slowed him down?

If he wasn't making 9 million, we would probably talk about him as much as we did stephen Williams. Rice is a shell of his former self. Not saying that he can't or doesn't help the team, but he is definitely not anywhere near a #1 receiver.

I love Rice.

But...

Our QB holds the ball longer than any other, because he can. We need improvising, quick scrapper wideouts, which Sidney is not.

Put Rice on the Broncos and he would average 100 catches and 1500 yards.

Kearse is the right call for this offense IMO

He was doubled up all day by the Colts secondary.
So's every other receiver making that much money.

Except that their QB's are willing to throw into double coverage. Wilson never will.

This is a great post.

But, you still suck.

You're kidding right? That guy wasn't even close to getting 1,000 yards.
