It's getting weird.

I was going to post that I think we are going to lose. Just being honest. Too many injuries to overcome still go 14-2 win the Super Bowl talk me out of it etc. etc.

I had crafted a lengthy post expressing the above in many words, then I read it and, although it made perfect sense to me I found myself ashamed by the effort I expended typing it out. So I punched myself in the ear, deleted it and drank a third bottle of wine.

Now I am doing penance and working myself into a frenzied rage.

See you Sunday.

The voice in the back of your head telling you we are going to lose is the same one that doesn't want to take any risks and worries about being let down.

You've got to beat that SOB like a rented mule.

Dude you have always been this way.

I think all lifelong Seahawks fans are like this as well.

Yes and no. As you know I was absolutely certain we would beat New Orleans in the playoffs although nobody thought we stood a chance

I'm glad you posted this, I have real reservations about this game. When we put the crap down on them last year they didn't have Justin Smith, which kind of negated Aldon Smith. Given our problems with our line and facing one of the best fronts in the NFL... I just don't want to see Wilson scrambling for his life all game while Beast mode is getting bottled up.

I really, really, really want this game. I couldn't stand the smug that would come from my 49er's friends.

Every time I start to doubt I just take a look at the roster. Wilson, Lynch, Rice, Baldwin, Tate, Miller, Okung, Mebane, Bryant, Wagner, Browner, Sherman, Thomas, Chancellor, Ryan, Hauschka, Unger, Clemons, Avril, Bennet, etc.

Ahhhh, my faith is restored.

That's a really hard point to argue with. Thanks for that.

Not worried. Reasons?

1. Cam Newtong > Colin Kapernick. Maybe not for long, but currently he is. Look what we did to him 2 years in a row. This year's Carolina game was a repeat of last years, so will the SF game in the Clink be.

2. Our defense kicks ass. Look what they did to the "Stat Monster."

3. Our offense beat a great defense, on the east coast, at 10AM, in 90 degree heat and humidity.

4. Some SF players feel invulnerable after beating Green Bay, but the Seahawks are not the weak sister that the Packers are, and this isn't San Francisco. "It wasn't the crowd, it was our huddle." Yea, right...

5. SF allowed GB to score 28 points with no running game.

6. Russell Wilson

7. A plethora of damn good receivers.

8. A bruising backfield that would make most DTs cry.

9. LOB

10. 12th Man

11. The coaching. The history, we came close to beating them in SF except for a dropped pass. We hosed them in Seattle.

12. The thin veneer of overconfidence that actually masks the fear that 49er players have about playing the Seahawks in Seattle.

I could go on but 12 seems like the perfect place to stop. I don't fear the 49er offense, we have played them before and beat them. Their defense is good, but so was the Panther defense. In fact, I think the Carolina front 4 are stronger than the San Francisco front four. They have 2 great DEs and an absolute stud in Star Lotuleilei.

I find one thing funny though, there are a lot of pundits setting themselves up to say "I told you so" by picking the 49ers. They did it last week before the Panther game too but nobody remembers because you don't hear a peep about it, and you won't until they are right. Which means you won't hear a peep from them next week either. :D

If this was a neutral field (or Candlestick), I think they would curbstomp us.

But because this is at home, with some of our players feeding off the crowd it is probably 50/50.

Either we lose by a lot, or we barely beat them but I see no way this team is going to beat them by a huge margin.

Missing Browner, Avril (or with a rusty Avril), maybe Clemons (or with a rusty Clemons) and possibly Mebane?

On top of the porous O-line and the same defensive line that gave up nearly 5 Ypc to Carolina last week?

That is a tall order.

Healthy, I think we can put away SF in Seattle or in SF. With so many people out I don't understand where the expectations are coming from.

I hear ya BFS…

I’m like that before every big game, by 3:00 I’ll have eaten 30 milligrams of Prilosec and my stomach will still be doing flip-flops. Even if they’re ahead by 28 at halftime I won’t be able to relax.

So revel in the insecurity every game holds, the release is worth the anguish IMHO.
