He seems like a pretty humble guy already.

But NFL power is pretty special. I think he's pretty well prepared for defensive tackles who win with quickness and a lot of crafty moves; but the brute strength bull rusher DTs will be a real eye opener for him, I would imagine.

Vita Vea is on the Hawks 2025 schedule, and that'll be something he won't be able to really gain an understanding of what it is like until the first time he feels it.

It is kind of an odd thread to be honest. Yes - the title would assume that he is not humble and needs to embarrassed into humbleness by getting beaten on the field.

Maybe this makes more sense if it was asking how long until someone like Shedeur Sanders is humbled by the NFL.
Odd thread indeed.
Especially when JS had to be pressured to abandoned his IOL mantra just to draft him in the first place.
I'd call that being humbled.
No one in this draft has proven anything yet, a lot of promise there of which Zabel holds the most.

Yep, pretty much every player in the history of the NFL has a humbling moment, welcome to the NFL kid etc.
Totally different position, but I think a lot of people forget that Jerry fricken Rice had major problems with drops as a rookie. One of the best of all time, humbled from the get. It made him better.

I think people make WAY too much about where a kid plays ball. Like WAY too much. Reminds me of Josh Allen coming out of Wyoming. He won't make it in the NFL, he's to inaccurate, he played at Wyoming blah blah blah.
You can either play or you can't.

OP is talking growing pains, which Allen had many of navigating the transition from college to the pros. Not whether or not Zabel will make it as a pro.

Allen's progression from Wyoming to elite level NFL QB was far from linear.

The more relevant and useful comparisons than Allen to Zabel, which is comparing QB to Oline; are comparisons between quality oline prospects who played at a lower level of college ball like Cody Mauch, Spencer Brown, Quinn Meinerz and Ali Marpet. All who figured it out and became strong professionals. Heck, you can go as far back as Larry Allen. It makes for a promising transition, even if we account for relative whiffs such as Dillon Radunz and Forrest Lamp.

He doesn't strike me as a guy that'd get humbled on the field. I get the impression if someone gets the best of him it'll just piss him off.

I expect a rookie learning curve from ANY player than comes to the NFL.

Can you imagine having a one on one against Murphy or Big Cat? I hope stache holds up.
Forget this question.

My question is why you put this up as the title of this thread?

How fast will Zabel be humbled? 🤨

C'mon, man....

Making it sound like Zabel is an arrogant dips--t like a certain QB we know that got drafted...

Zabel seems to be the type of guy who knows he ain't all that and expects to have his "growing pains" as a rook.

I think Humbled is the wrong word, more like woke up to being in the NFL, first full pads practice when guys can go full speed he will find everyone is so big, so fast and so strong, he has the skill set to step up to it, but thats the awakening moment.

I posted this this with no ill will towards Zabel as I love the pick. I guess my word “humble” wasn’t the best choice. I was implying how he would hold up against our own monsters Murphy and Big Cat. We all seen how he did at the senior bowl and dominated. With that, I changed the title of the thread.
