How did Wagner do in his Rams debut?

I don't ever know exactly what happened until I rewatch the game, but this loss wasn't on him.

For my snarky comment: he probably felt like, damn I left a losing team to get another loss.

He had a few good plays... Mostly looked old and slow. He got posterized by Josh Allen, when Allen ran over Wagner at the goal line for a TD. Wagner probably makes that play 3-4 years ago.

Lots of plays where he's running up to the pile after the tackle is over.

He looked bad. Slower and not nearly as dominant as he usually is.

He had trouble defending both the pass and the run.

First game though…and who knows if he’s trying to adapt to a new scheme or has come in a bit out of shape.

It looked to me like the Seahawks had made the right decision in not bringing Wagner back, but it's just one game.
There were a couple of times when Allen took advantage of Wagner not being useful in coverage. There was a nice running play on which Wagner was blocked out of the way very well by an offensive lineman.
And there was this play, which I'm posting as a link (click here!) because the preview says the video can't be shown here. It's Wagner vs. Allen in the open field. Wagner gets his arms around Allen, but Allen keeps going and gets the ball across the goal line.

Arguably, Hawks made the wrong decision. The front office should have traded Bobby, and I love Bobby, a season or two early. We could have gotten some return instead of releasing with no return.

Would there have a been a big dead money cap hit had Bobby been traded a couple of years ago?

It's hard finding old contract details but from what I gather the dead cap would have been about 7-8M, but maybe more.

He actually ended up playing at 17.5M in 2021. They would have saved 13.5M if they traded him instead
