-- I have seen multiple posters reference Matt Flynn as an almost comp for Sam Darnold. My bigger fear is a Scott Mitchell, who lit it up as the Dolphins QB when Marino was hurt, then was an absolute disaster when he signed as the savior with the Lions.
-- But that is the downside. What if, just for fun, we considered the upside. With the goal always being to win another Super Bowl, it got me thinking about free agent quarterbacks who have done so. Unfortunately the list is small. Just 6. Four were planned as starters, the other two were signed as backups)
Brady with the Bucs (Hall of Famer)
Brees with the Saints (Hall of Famer)
Manning with the Broncos (Hall of Famer)
Brad Johnson for the Bucs (um....no)
Trent Dilfer for the Ravens (brought in to back up Tony Banks, who was bad)
Nick Foles with the Eagles (brought in to back up Carson Wentz, who got hurt)
-- So, I think what we hope for, is that Darnold is the next Brad Johnson, and we build a great team around him. Hey, Johnson was a very solid NFL starter, and had played for the Vikings previously as well. Time will tell.
