For both, it would depend on what they’d be getting although just a few few weeks ago I would’ve been willing to pay other teams to take Riq.

They're both starter value. If JS thinks depth can shine and there's little-to-no drop-off with backups, value dictates a draft pick that should yield a starter. Depending on JS's expectations on the upcoming draft, that means a 3rd or higher. Allowing their contract to expire and letting them walk could yield a comp pick, maybe a 4th or 5th. It seems like a low 2nd round pick would be the target. I wouldn't think too many teams would get excited about giving up a pick in the 50s for Riq, but maybe Mafe....

I don't see it happening, but JS's drafts have been so good lately it's intriguing to think about more ammo to attack the draftboard.

If these trades were to happen it would have to be a player for player type of trade, or if the draft picks are to good to pass up then yeah, let's move on..

Why not? His contract is up after this season like Riq
and both have not earned a raise so far.
Depends on the comp. If the Seahawks think they can get a third round compensatory pick if they kept him and he walked as a free agent instead of trading him for a third rounder, then it doesn’t make any sense.

I doubt a 3rd comp pick is what we'd get for Mafe it would be more like a 4th or 5th, He has zero sacks even though he gets pressure the sack stat would be the deciding factor, now if he has 8-10sacks i could see a 3rd for him, but i highly doubt we get a 3rd for him with zero sacks, and at this point I'm not sure he's a real fit in MacDonald's scheme...

Forgot Mafe was even on the team. Dude has been serviceable this season, but that's about it. Stacking QB hurries is still important, I'm just not convinced he's needed at this point.

If JS can package him up for OL, LB, WR, DB help that would be a solid trade.

I like Mafe but he’s easily replaceable. Last year of his deal. He won’t be here next year, someone will overpay for him. Not sure we’d get much for him in a trade so keeping him makes more sense if that’s the case

Agree with this. I like him too but, I can’t see us re-signing and I’d rather recoup a potentially higher draft pick than a comp.

As for Riq…dude was literally THE reason we lost to SF. But, he’s started to ‘flash’ again. I don’t think we can afford to lose him but at the same time, in a DB hungry league, I feel like someone’s going to offer him way more than we’d be willing to pay next year.

Projection is hit or miss. Hindsight is 20/20. It’ll be interesting to see what JS and MM decide to do. Personally, I would seriously consider trading both if, and only if, we could manage to get a serviceable Guard. I’m talking average (or of course ‘better’) type guy.

If an above average LB’er is in play, that would be something to consider as well.

He does not have sacks, but his pressure rate is really good. Its felt by the offence. I bet he will rattle a few off soon as they come in bunches.
If we didn't have him I would say we need to trade for someone that gets pressure like him.
So I say keep him for this year, and try to keep him longer.

you always need edge rushers and were thin at DB. Bad idea.
Valid but, do you see us being able to re-sign both next year?

This team is 5-2. We could definitely be better in some areas but, I’d love to keep it intact and continue to build via the draft.

But, I’d be surprised if one of these two guys isn’t moved. If we keep them both, there’s some financial decisions to be made next year…then again, that’s always an issue.

JS is pretty damn crafty with this stuff. I trust that what we do, or don’t do, will be the best scenario.

Mafe's decline in production has a lot more to do with the stacked DL around him than it does his own quality. The guy did not just suddenly get bad this year when you all were singing his praises the last two years.

That said, the stacked roster is the stacked roster, so if the Hawks can get by without him and pick up a player or a pick, they probably will.

Riq Woolen is our best cover guy and it's not really close. Mafe is worth way more then they could get for him.
