Rewind back to mid season, and there were shouts from us to move on from Riq as quickly as possible. He had a lot to do with some key losses and was showing consistent mental lapses.

Fast forward to today.

He’s making open field tackles, not giving up big plays, avoiding disastrous PI calls. I’ve been pretty impressed with him. He’s big and fast and may be hard to replace.

Where do you guys stand today on a possible extension? Has Riq earned it ?

Wait and see? Not worth the money? Do it any cost ? Let him test the market and go from there?

With all the trade rumors earlier this season, Riq went to JS and begged him to not trade him. He wants to be a Seahawk. He sure has played well the second half. Might get him for a home discount

He really looked like he didn’t want to be there. He can probably get some big guaranteed money out there somewhere. I’d like him to stay but I wouldn’t give him crazy money.

Any players from this secondary will be high dollar...probably anyone from this D. Riq has earned an opportunity but it completely depends on price. Cost/benefit, risk/reward.

Managing cap, understanding who's in the pipeline, where to use draft capital and a solid understanding of the reasons Riq was so good/bad/good are all pieces that could flip the decision on Riq's actual value in Seattle (there's potentially a high comp pick too if he plays put his deal).

JS has shown he's better at juggling these factors than us...at least lately. He'll decide about an extension and I'm guessing it'll be the right decision. But, Riq still has some pretty big stages to showcase his value before season's end. I hope he plays the next 3 games at such a high level it's an even more difficult decision.

Probably depends on his market. If its $20m I would let him go. If he's cheap, say under $10m I 2ould extend him.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they spend their 1st rounder on a CB. If that’s the case then Riq walks. He’s been pretty damn good the latter half the season I have to admit.

As good as he is playing, he will get good money on the open market. It would be nice to keep him, but with the other contracts coming up, we can't afford him. Hope he goes to an AFC team and gets us a decent comp pick in '27.

One thing John and Mike are good at, Finding CB's and Safeties that can play in his system, offer a fair contract, don't sweat it if he goes elsewhere, he has nice length and speed, but can be replaced, won't miss the taunting and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
