Thanks. I can't imagine I'd be too happy seeing a division rival celebrate a Lombardi on our home field. But it's not like Seattle will ever get to host a Super Bowl anyway. Shanny did a hell of a job this year. The NFC West has three of the best coaches in the biz. Iron sharpens iron.

I don’t think even a healthy Niners team makes a deep run next year. They are an aging roster, with much of their prime talent on their last legs.

The wheels didn’t exactly fall off of CMC at the end of the year, but they were definitely a bit loose.

Purdy will still look good in Shanahan’s system.

How will their defense perform, coming back from so many injuries?

Trent Williams isn’t going to be the reliable engine he once was.

They are built for a more finesse style of play than the physical, smash-mouth style of today’s NFC West.

IMHO, the Niners should go full rebuild mode.
OK now we are gonna disagree. :p I keep hearing that every year....and then they make a move. They lost Mostert...traded for CMC. They lost Staley....traded for Trent.

No question, they have work to do. I'm actually excited to see alot of these younger guys and see what they can do in year two.

Notable: Upton Stout, Alfred Collins, Mykel Williams, CJ West, Nick Martin (he never really got a shot this year, but typically takes Niners LBs a few years...Greenlaw/Winters/Al-Shaair).

Some third year guys too...Pearsall (please stay on the field man), Mustapha, Puni.

All of these guys need to prove it. None are stars right now...but the shelf isn't bare after their stars

They need WR, O-Line, and more D-Line. They'll likely sign/draft alot at those positions.

They have been for the last 30 years, just they are rebuilding a Corvette in a race with monster trucks.
LOL. Nice.

Nah...honestly, IMO, the issue they have with Shanahan v McDonald is roster talent, not scheme. Emmanwori is a monster. Kinda like the Seattle Kyle Hamilton...Safety who is effectively a LB in run D.

Seahawks can rush 4 all day, play big nickel, and Niners can't run them out of that defense.

To make it worse, they don't have anyone who can beat that coverage. Pearsall might be able to, but he can never stay healthy. Aiyuk was one of those guys, but he went batshit nuts. The certainly can't do it with Jennings and Bourne.

They need to improve O-Line on the interior and get some weapons on the outside. I'd expect to see them spend time on the offseason on those positions.

On D its all about pass rush. They get some guys back, but they need D-Line in a big way.

No guarantee they can do all this in one year, but what they need to do is pretty clear.

Kyle can do alot via scheme with smoke and mirrors, but Seattle D has both scheme AND horses. Niners need more horses to compete.

Fair, and I didn't mean to imply that the cupboards are bare.

When I say that it's time for a full rebuild, I didn't mean to suggest that a lot of that rebuild can't come from within. Perhaps it would be better to say, time to cut dead wood.

If I were the Niners, I would be looking to cut aging vets, including some guys who have been integral to their success, even if it means a down year while the young guys get their feet under them.

Thats what they did LAST year by jettisoning Deebo, Hargrave, Floyd, Collins, etc.

That process is already underway.

I just don't see them doing that with CMC/Bosa/Warner/Kittle.

CMC was the only target that needed to be targeted by our team and that was hard on your guys. Getting another one would probably help in that aspect. Thanks for the posts.

Thats.....depressing but true.

They need help on the outside for sure....and probably a young TE. No idea how long Kittle is out. Good news is it may be sooner than expected because it was a tear high in his Achilles which supposedly is a shorter recovery, but we'll see.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting Seattle wasn't the best team in the league this year. I think you earned that.

Just sayin....freakin Mahomes man. Rams get Cincy, Seattle gets the Maye Patriots.

We get Mahomes. Twice.

WTF? :p
Did you SEE Mahomes this year? You might be getting a blessing. It's not like he just had a couple bad games, he may have pulled a "Happy Gilmore's girlfriend" and fallen off a cliff and died on impact. Time'll tell.

LOL.

I did...but I also think it shows something about how important surounding cast is.

For so long the criticism of Purdy has been "yeah, but can he do it without his weapons?". as if ANY great QB didn't have weapons. Joe had Rice, Tayler, and Jones. Roger Craig just went into the HOF.

Warner had Holt, Bruce, and Faulk (one of my fave players of all time BTW since his first game at SDSU despite being a Ram).

Manning had Harrison, Wayne, and Faulk/James.

Mahomes has an OLD Kelce this year...and the numbers show it.

KC is gonna give him some weapons this year.

For sure, I didn't read it that way. You gotta make your own destiny though, if you know what I mean.

The KC dynasty is OVER, besides the age and injuries, the cap hell
is coming.

Patriots had zero chance, as soon as the Seahawks beat the Rams they won the superbowl. That defense was too good this year. Great player caller, great scheme, and great players, man i am so jealous lol hopefully it lights a fire in my teams ass

Gotta say...as I said before I was rooting Patriots...

...but I knew. It was a lost cause.

As with the Niners and Cowboys back in the day, NFCCG was the real Super Bowl.

There is an argument to be made that, when healthy, the Niners MIGHT be the third best team in the league. Sadly the other two are in their division.

I ended up rooting for the seahawks, I work with an over-confident pats fan who thought it was in the bag. He didn't listen to me when I told him that defense was forreal. Ended up winning a couple hundred dollars from him in a bet thanks Seattle lol

The Rams would have smoked the Pats if they made the big game, too.

Hell, if your 9ers had made it I think they would have pulled off the W as well.

We are setting on a 5 or 6 year or so run of if our front offices and Coaching stay the course being the AFC West of the late 70,80's with Oakland, KC, Denver and San Diego all beating each other up, KC and San Diego never came out on top back then but had teams of talented players. Or you could say the AFC Central with Cinncinnat, Houston, Pittsburg and sometimes Cleveland. they beat each other up a lot as well, Houstion and Cleveland losing out every year but were talented as well.

I say 5 or 6 years because in this day and age player contracts expire so fast, nobody is with a Franchise their whole career, that and with the success of this division we will be pilferred heavily.

But for Football Fans who love great games this could be the era of the west coast dominating National games, We have to see what Arizona does, but what do you want to watch a 49er, Rams, Seahawks game, any combination right now, or Americas team and the Crypt Keeper playing anyone else?

I wouldn’t disagree. Even unhealthy you were probably top 6 or 7.

You would have beat the Pats, and given Denver and Houston a good game.
