It’s been banned since 2013, when Jimmy Graham knocked a goalpost out of alignment, and they had to delay the game for repairs.

Technically it was illegal before that, as is any celebration that uses a prop. They just clarified that the goal posts are considered props, and started enforcing it.

That’s why the difference between it (a prop) and choreographed, non-prop including celebrations.

It was worth the penalty in this case.

I don't mind the occasional "cost of doing business" as Mike says. I just don't want to see it become a regular trend. This last time Meyers made the kick so it was not a big deal but depending on the game and circumstances, a 15-yard penalty could be a disaster.
