What is your take on how Geno played yesterday?

Smith played somewhat on the “okay” side, he wasn’t bad, but he didn’t stand out enough to warrant this is a game, where you go back, watch the film, and it makes you want to extend Smith….no, at least not to me.

What do you guys think how Smith played?

Thoughts?

Meh he was ok I guess. He left a lot of plays on the field by standing there and not pulling the trigger or running. He didn't turn the ball over which is rare and in a game like that was critical. He was ok bordering on bad in my opinion yesterday.

he missed a crucial throw to the TE on that goal line stand that really should have been made. He also threw some absolute dimes. Some of the sacks were obviously not his fault but there were several times where he had enough time to make a phone call back there and just threw it away. He did enough to win and I'll take it. Geno is who he is. He'll never be a world beater and he's 35 years old. Very unlikely he is on the team next year. Still a pretty decent QB.

My wife magically ends up watching the game in the other room. Pretty much every game. Even though I'm totally calm the entire time.
I never yell. I never get riled up. I never cuss.

I understand everyone's obsession with quarterbacks, but I don't want to have to pay for an elite QB. I'm just fine having a top 10-16 cheap QB so our roster isn't hamstrung, Mike can get his guys and we develop a running game.

What a limp wristed, low IQ take. "We need a better quarterback!! 😡"

No we don't we need an offensive line and running game to compliment a defense on the ascent.

Have people forgotten about our lone championship title and how it was acquired? Dudes, our quarterback threw for barely over 3000 yards, during the peak passing era. Things are changing, the pendulum swings back. Wake up people, the running back and ground and pound are back.

remind me how many SB rings Mahomes has again? I get what you are saying but I'd say we need a solid 7-10th best QB. Near Elite.

I see guys who make 40 million a year do the same stuff. Kyler Murray overthrew a wide open Trey McBride in the endzone and he also threw a pick six. As far as not throwing the ball when he has a ton of time and then throwing it away, this is what we want him to do rather then forcing things in and throwing a pick or taking a sack, sometimes the coverage just wins.

I don't know who would be a better option next year. I think we extend him and lower his cap number. Hopefully we get a LG early in the draft and can get a run game going. That with the D that seems to be clicking and we could be set for a strong run.

He played well enough to win, and played better than the other guy. Geno was up against a pretty good Jets defense. Also, it wasn't the offense that put the team into the 21-7 hole. With a deficit like that, there was little margin for error, and the playbook got shrunk.

Sometimes the best throws are the ones you don't make. Believe it or not, sometimes the best play is to take the sack. Yes, it's probably better to throw it away, but with our line, Geno often doesn't have time to get outside the pocket so he can throw it away without being flagged for intentional grounding.

I wouldn't say that Geno won the game, but he didn't lose it either. I would say he played well enough so that the defense could win the game.

I'd even go so far as to say: If Geno wins a playoff game, he'll be re-signed. If Geno wins two playoff games, we back up the Brinks truck (top 5 salary at the position).
