Geno Trade Value?

QBOTF, or as I like to call it, the very real possibility of our next Dan Mcgwire.

lol I'll never understand this thought process. With this mentality you'd just continually pick up middling vets because you don't want to miss on a QB. You're just as likely to miss on a prospect of every other position too, heck why not just trade all your draft picks since they're scary!

It seems like the NFL is getting better at scouting these guys and drafting a Mcgwire is less likely now than it was then. I think the Seahawks are ran well enough that if they deem a guy can't missin the first round I would bet on the guy not completely busting. Most of the busts I'd argue aren't because they were wrongly scouted but because they coaching staff and environment, they went to were terrible.

Anyway I'm mostly teasing you, I think at this point the best course of action is to keep Geno AND draft a guy for the future. You may miss but you still have to take that chance at times. Look at all 8 QB's in the final 8....they're all very good.

Especially, if there isn't any cap or dead money hit to worry about.

If they cut him for 2025 there is still dead cap money, but it's only $8.7 million and they'd save $25 million off his cap hit.

Given his cap hit/dead cap this year I'd be surprised if a team traded much of anything for him if the Seahawks choose to move on. It would probably be worth the risk to losing him if they are interested to see if he gets cut.

Fields is not a FA, and the only FA QB that even approaches Geno's acumen is Cousins. None of the others have put competent seasons together.

In the draft, you've got 3 stud and 3 fringe prospects who'd require either significant time to develop or a very, very specific fit in terms of actual QBOTF material.

Geno should be seen as an older Jared Goff in this type of circumstance, if we're being real. Nice on a team that is doing well elsewhere, middling when the rest of the team spins its tires.

With that being said, yes. I agree that the best case is to keep Geno for the time being and continue utilizing him as a worthy bridge that can have us competitive for a couple of years should we need it.

I know I said use Geno as a bridge for our rookie QBOTF. I just don't want to see him as our Goff. I guess what I dont get is we saw Geno's ceiling in '22. Why are people ok with a QB that just puts us on the fringe of making the playoffs, .500 football. Then for example this year we draft in no mans land can't get a stud QBOTF and hard position for a trade down partner?

A system in which Geno got to familiarize himself with for an entire year before Lock got here.

If Lock had the same amount of time in Waldron's system and was familiarized with the other offensive players' habits, he would have become a serviceable mediocre QB, as well.

How many more games do you knuckleheads think we would have won with, say, Tom Brady instead of Geno? Considering our D would give up like 1000 yards rushing every single game? I'm thinking the GOAT might have bought us a couple more wins per season, because that terrible D has been hard to overcome. With the D being like it has been, I'm hard-pressed to make any definitive judgement on Geno OR Lock.

Geno, in my opinion, is an above average QB. His problem is age, teams won't look upon him as someone that has "upside". If Geno's 27, with his record from the past three seasons, Hawks might get a first or a second plus third combo.

As one of .sucks prime knuckleheads, I would guess 3-4. Just scoring close to two td's per game like a top 5 qb would count for at least three wins I should think. Yes I know, I know, that's a simplistic view, and it's never Geno's fault.
